As I said previously, I really enjoyed last night’s episode. Would enjoy seeing Sara Gilbert’s Leslie Winkle every once in a while though.
OMG it would be awesome if Amy Farrah Fowler turned out to be a lesbian!!
Who ended up with Leslie Winkle. Or Leonard’s mom.
Definitely Leslie. Sheldon is going to wind up with Leonard’s mom.
AFF did a fantastic job of making the bedroom scene physically uncomfortable. The way she perched onthe bed, just infinitismally too close, and then just spoke and stared, then spoke and stared again. . . it was finally the artistry I was waiting to see from Mayim.
I have to say though, I didn’t like this one overall. It’s the first time I’ve felt what others have complained about “Enough with the ‘Sheldon is annoying’ bit!”
As he delivered what was meant to be a hilarious line “verbal communication is sufficient, no need to wave your middle finger” my exact thought was:
“Yes, we have established that Sheldon is annoying. Thank you, we get it. Now is there, in fact, a show coming our way any time soon?”
I have to say that last week also felt a bit like one long set-up, and I was still waiting for it to really start when it ended.
Mind you, I still want to see what those crazy kids will be up to next week!
ETA: “Bazinga” is not an exclamation of joy or felicity. “Bazinga” is the announcement of a whoosh. I was sure that link would be leading to a false premise of some sort.
“Huzzah” is BBT (or Sheldonese) for good news.
Possibly in an “It puts the lotion on its skin” sort of way if he ever visits her lair.
They’ve had at least three Roseanne alums (Gilbert, Galecki, Metcalfe). I’d love to see more: John Goodman as one of Sheldon’s good ol’ boy uncles perhaps or as his father’s ghost in a Hamlet fueled dream, or Estelle Parsons as his beloved Meemaw (if she’s still kicking). If they ever have to show Howard’s mother (I think it’s agreed she’s better left unseen) Roseanne would be as good a choice as any and better than most if whoever does the offscreen voice doesn’t look the part.
I thought Amy had a line at some point that made me think “Well, it’s about time they acknowledged that they’re going over the line with his character.”
I’ll have to see if I can find it later.
The thing that stands out in this episode is just how much Penny has taken over this show.
For a show about a bunch of science geeks, the Penny character have become the pivot point. Everything, including Amy is revolving around her.
I’m not saying this is bad, but it is surprising as you’d never think from the shows beginnings it would’ve developed that much around Penny.
I do like the Amy character as well. I was never a fan of Mayim Bialik but she is doing a great job here. Plus the fact that in real life she is “scary smart” adds a bit of fun to the mix.
Rick Fox is nice looking though his height is what landed him this role. The whole big in one area, big in the other areas, has even been covered by the Family Circus
As for the renewel who knows? Remember when Drew Carey got that lengthy renewal then a year later the whole show just collapsed.
Plus the guys are aging and Jim Parsons is pushing 40.
Did anyone else notice as they “pretty up” Raj, he is looking young and younger? When he stands next to Sheldon or Leonard, he looks like a little boy (well almost)
Best bedroom hopping scenerio since Frasier’s ski trip.
The funniest thing about the presentation was imagining the aucidence’s reactions.
Duly noted.
The Urabn Dictionary website lists Bazinga, with a Sheldon Cooper reference.
I loved the presentation scene - so much inappropriate; megatons of inappropriate. When Penny started answering from the audience, that was excellent. When Leonard shouted “NO!” when he realized who was going to drive Penny back to LA, perfection.
Oh yeah, that “NOooo! !” was a work of utter and complete genius. Timing, tone, expression, body language, just genius.
This one was weak for me. I find it difficult to see such a breakdown by respected scientists in that venue. They would have delivered their lectures, maybe somewhat more stiffly, but that would not have fallen apart like that.
I thought it was hilarious, that all their little personal dramas were more important than the lifework of brilliant people.
She’s the oasis of sanity in a world of zany. She’s the “everyman” the average person can relate to and whose normalcy, in contrast to all the kookiness, keeps the show anchored.
Yet I have no doubt that they got through their presentations eventually. (Their brainy egos probably wouldn’t let them miss out on the chance to show off their brilliance.)
What I couldn’t quite figure out is why they’d all be asked, including, Bernadette would all end up as a single panel on science and society, which is an area of focus for none of them and they don’t otherwise work together (except Raj and Sheldon).
Same conference, sure, but are they promoting themselves as a group traveling roadshow?
And wouldn’t Sheldon be upset to be presenting on something so social sciency?
This would likely have been the reaction of people who don’t live in a sitcom. But that wouldn’t have been funny. I can forgive them for pushing the envelope of plausibility while going for the laughs, because they got them.

This is the first thing I thought of when I read about the renewal. The danger of people just mailing it in becomes very high. Not usually a good thing.
Fear of cancellation makes people try harder.
I was about to post something about how disgusted Sheldon would be and being on the same panel with them, being superior and all. But then I something else dawned on me. Remember the last time he had to do something in front of a group of people big enough to trample him.
I think it was Penny, fomenting rebellion in the back seat, after which she was exiled to the other car.

Not to mention her outspoken desire to have a penis (not for sex, mind you, just for the more convenient plumbing aspect).
“Handy thing to have on a picnic” indeed.
