The Big Bang Theory, Season 10, Episode 3 (October 3, 2016) -- "The Dependence Transcendence"

I am starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.

I’ll play…

Worst episode ever.

Some very funny dialogue in this one. One line in particular made me truly laugh out loud. Spoiler just in case.

Bernadette: You’re such a snitch, no wonder I don’t like you.

There some others funny moments as well.

Sorry I was so mean back there. It’s the hormones.
No, you were mean before you were pregnant.

Also-- You popular girls are mean.

Ho boy, is married life agreeing with Leonard. He’s getting a dad bod already. I enjoyed all three stories tonight. It looks like they’re breaking down Sheldon a little. Turning him more human. If the coming events are for real and not a one episode development, it needs to happen.

Frankly, when Bernadette was telling Raj that he wasn’t invited to be in the room when the baby was born, I was thinking she was lucky he wasn’t in the room when the baby was conceived.

A lot of past threads have pointed out the seemingly 180° turnaround Bernadette had about wanting to have a baby, based on previous episodes. This episode seemed to address that “inconsistency” head-on.

When you first get pregnant, you’re full of a lot of confidence that you can do it, and the closer the date gets, the more panic sets in. I’ve been there.

I didn’t want a baby most of my adult life. I changed my mind when my husband was in Iraq. He always wanted one, so he didn’t take any convincing, and I got pregnant immediately after we started trying. Seriously-- it took two weeks. I was thrilled at first, then about a month later, the oh my gawd, what have I done, set in.

I totally relate to Bernadette running hot and cold on the baby.

Even after my son was born, when I hadn’t had more than 90 minutes of consecutive sleep in two days, I still sometimes thought “My gawd, what have I done.”

And Howard is supposed to be the one who stays home and takes care of the baby, but you know that isn’t going to happen because 1) of his pact to work with Leonard and Sheldon, and 2) he’s a putz.

I wonder if they are setting up a scenario where Raj is going to quit the university and become Howard and Bernadette’s nanny.

“It’s gonna take another two years.” Meaning, there’ll be one more season after this one?

The more “human” Sheldon gets, the less funny he is. Let’s lay bets that the final season ends with Sheldon marrying Amy and becoming fully “normal.”

I think we’re being set up for a spinoff like the one we talked about last week, i.e., Raj’s father coming to America to do gynecology in SoCal. Why else was that video chat included in the show?

Ha! Good point!

I know Bernadette wasn’t keen on being a mother, so I’m glad they tackled her ambivalent feelings on this.

I also liked seeing Sheldon realizing he can’t always be the genius.

Amy getting complimented was fun, although I did feel sorry that no one else showed up to the party.

Whatever happened to Raj dating two women? They need to bring that back.

I miss Emily! Not “needy Emily”, though. I enjoyed the earlier, creepy version! And this month would be the perfect time to showcase her Halloweeny side, if ya ask me…

I thought the Flash being a caffeine pusher was the best part - “Do you know why Batman wanders around at night getting into fights? Scotch.”

If Amy is the most popular girl on campus, why didn’t Bert text everyone to tell them she was at the party?

Maybe it’s because I was pretty tired yesterday, but I didn’t much enjoy this episode. In fact, as soon as it was over, I went to bed.

I thought all 3 story lines were kinda dumb.

I’ve missed a few episodes; are we totally sure Raj wasn’t in the room?

I’m thinking that her popularity may just be in Bert’s mind.

Bernadette has brothers? I thought her dad wanted a son? Maybe have my sitcom plots confused.

Total waste of plot line on the deadline for the project. They still have some good moments but they’re in the successful sitcom deadzone now, just cashing in.

Penny’s dad wanted a son…hence her childhood nickname of Slugger.

Bernie is Catholic, so I would presume she has a lot of brothers and sisters. Sounds like she has at least two brothers.

Bernie complained about all the childcare she did for her younger siblings in the episode in which she first said that she didn’t want kids (The Shiny Trinket Maneuver The Shiny Trinket Maneuver | The Big Bang Theory Wiki | Fandom)

Ah right! That clears it up. But Penny’s dad does have a son. Still disappointed though.

That’s what I told my husband (who is Andy L.)
