The Big Bang Theory, Season 10, Episode 3 (October 3, 2016) -- "The Dependence Transcendence"

if i remember properly, wasn’t bert interested in amy a few seasons back? perhaps every now and again he tries to see if she is “on a break”.

According to Bernadette, the baby was conceived when they were at Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment, and slipped away from the gang for a quickie (on Sheldon’s bed, in fact).

So Raj was there!

Interesting article on the finances of the show. CBS may not be able to afford it for upcoming seasons, or the actors will not be getting raises.

It costs $9 million to produce an episode, more than half of which is actor salaries.

Yeesh, what’s the rest of if, gift bags for the studio audience?

It doesn’t go toward fixing the damn elevator.

Bazinga.

The show has gone from a “guy” comedy show to a “girl” comedy show. Same thing happened to MASH, SIMPSONS, and others. “Guy” comedy shows are usually cruder, jokes are usually a bit meaner, little more slapstick. They delve into feelings just a little as you would use spice in food. “Girl” comedies are more into “feelings” and the mean, crude jokes are used as the spice. Compare MASH year one with any show after Frank Burns left.

MASH became that way when Alan Alda became big into feminist issues. If you notice, a lot of the later season’s shows were directed by him.

This is what happens when you start focusing on “relationships” and “character development.” Big Bang is now about as funny as*** MAS*H ***was in its last few years, i.e., not at all.

He’ll always be “Alice” to me.

Agreed. Although in this case they seem to be moving in real time unlike the 11 year long Korean War on MASH.

It was a relationship show to start with. They kept it from settling down for a while with Penny and Leonard breaking up for a while, but once those two had settled down the other girlfriends provided some more plot opportunities. Amy was a very good addition, Bernadette turned out to add something with the Oedipal overtones. But the result is a different show. It’s been decent run through most of the the show, now it’s run its course, Bernadette should have her baby, find someone for Raj, and they can all say goodbye before they take a trip to Hawaii and find a cursed Tiki totem.

I’m actually enjoying the evolution of the show* and I’m astonished that it’s a Chuck Lorre series–he never allows things to grow or change (other than casting stuff) at all in his other shows. I like seeing the changes in Sheldon.

*Except Raj. He’s getting on my nerves.

It was a “buddy” show, with some of the buddies occasionally landing girlfriends. It’s now increasingly a “chick” show, with all the sciencey-nerd stuff being pushed into the background. I find Sheldon’s change in character to be utterly unbelievable and not at all funny.

I find it utterly believable. Chicks’ll change you, man. Really.

I think Sheldon’s changing has been done quite well. He’s grown but, really, he’s still Sheldon. And the guys are still nerdy. I can see how wedding bells breaking up the old gang can make some male viewers sad. To them I say, “Buck up. Shit happens.”

Sheldon’s changing more by next week’s episode, if the preview was accurate. Looks like Amy’s moving in or maybe just spending the night.

Or as Dr. Beverly Hofstadter said: “Sorry. Buck up, Sissy Pants.”

Nooooo kidding!

Marriage is EVIL!
