Big Bang Theory 24/5 The Lunar Excitation

I enjoyed this episode. The idea that Leonard has spoiled Penny for the guys she used to date because they’re just so STUPID was a nice touch.

“Who thinks we’re going to blow up the moon? Now that’s a great question!”

I enjoyed this episode too. They wrote a much better Sheldon than the last few episodes, finally. His date scene was pretty funny.

As this was the season closer, and ended with Sheldon’s date going well, I wonder if she is slated to become a regular next season. (Seems like a bad idea to me, but I can see why they would do it, especially as Leonard is now single again.)

OHMIGOD…Leslie Winkle!!! Go Sara Gilbert!!!

So none of you noticed that this was really just a very special episode of “Blossom”?

Stupid DVR cut out right as Sheldon’s date mentioned the agreement with her mother. Was there much more? What was it?

Oh yes, there was more (paraphrasing):

Sheldon: I have a similar agreement with my mother that I will attend church once a year.

Amy: While I am not opposed to the concept of a deity, I have trouble understanding one who takes attendance.

Sheldon: You should stay out of East Texas then.

Amy: Noted.

(I think I’m forgetting something here.)

Amy: Just for your information, all physical contact, up to and including coitus, is off the table.

Sheldon (clearly becoming enchanted): May I buy you a beverage?

Amy: Tepid water please. (followed by a brief smile)

They walk to the counter together, camera pans over to Raj and Howard, standing motionless in shock.

Howard: Good god, what have we done?

Well, maybe not a regular, but I hope they don’t just drop the storyline completely. She was just too perfect for him.

gasp Was that really her?

My prediction: The two seem to really hit is off at first, but Sheldon ends up rejecting her either a) because of some massive flaw she has (blind to the fact that his friends put up with the exact same flaw in him) or b) because of some really ridiculous minor reason, like she really likes Babylon 5.

You’re probably right. It’s hard to see them becoming a permanent item. I think there’s some humor potential in how they get there, though.

I think you’re right, but it will be the other way - she’ll reject him because he’s not as Sheldon-y as she is. He’ll wind up blaming it on Leonard, Penny, and the others, claiming their friendship “damaged” him.

Aaargh! so ticked I missed this episode. and CBS doesn’t show entire ep.s does it? Dang.

Watching Sheldon deal with the human emotions involved in being dumped will make the next season their best ever.

Fascinating.

I hope it happens early on, because Blossom – or Miss Fillow Fallow, whatever her name is – is just another Sheldon. Lines that the writers give her are lines that they should be saving for Sheldon, when the show hits its ninth or tenth season.

The only interesting thing to me about this relationship is Sheldon’s reaction when it’s over. I thought I’d like a Sheldonesque love interest for Sheldon, but I don’t. I recognize it’s my shortcoming though, not the writer’s.

I really liked Leonard trying the drunk sex ploy on Penny. Why is it that it works for women but not for men? Is it because women know that a drunk guy isn’t going to be worth a damn in the sack?

Agreed, Sara Gilbert is always a welcome addition. I read that the writers didn’t use her character this season as they felt (and the actress agreed) they couldn’t come up with quality material for her on a regular basis.

This was by far the best episode of the season. It was odd that a Sheldon oriented episode had so little Sheldon in it. It also made it obvious that the three other males and Penny have the ability to shine when given material. This isn’t just the “Sheldon Show.”

Mayim Bialik was great. It was just what the episode called for. It had her in as a brief guest role. For those who don’t know Bialik is like, “scary smart” in real life and holds a PhD in Neuroscience.

I would like to see Gilbert back next season and even could take Bialik back for a few episodes.

But from start to finish the episode is A+ material.

Yep. Won a bet last night over that one.

Yeah, they’ve just gotta string this relationship along for at least a few episodes next season, and end it with him being the rejected one. Ooohh, and here’s to hoping that they both remain more or less asexual through out the entire thing. I don’t see either of them having sex except strickly for reproduction and a pro forma marriage consumation (much like Leonard’s parents).

She dumps Sheldon and falls in love with Wil Wheaton.
