Jack Kirby was an artist that worked extensively with Stan Lee. He and Lee created X-Men, Hulk and Fantastic Four together.
You’re right- that would be a better part for him.
What does the “excelsior” mean, (in context) in Leonard and Howard’s autographs?
Well played, sir.
That one occurred to me as I was nodding off in bed. I was planning to post it in the morning, dangit.
That’s Stan Lee’s signature catchphrase. That’s how he ends all of his correspondence.
No, I don’t know why. I’ve always thought it a bit silly.
Funniest part was when Penny was reading Sheldon’s script. “Darn tootin! If you’ll excuse my low-brow, corn-fed Nebraskan slang. Totally”.
This show might as well be the Sheldon and Penny show. Raj Howard and Leonard are getting increasingly useless.
I love the ending. People do take out restraining orders against Sheldon, which would definitely be the case in real life.
I loved that! Sheldon writing in what he considers to be “Penny’s vernacular” – classic!
And you are right, the other characters need to be featured more; they can all be very funny if given the proper material to work with – still, the writers know that they have an awesome comedic duo in Sheldon and Penny, and you can’t blame them too much for milking that cow for all its worth!
Raj was in great comedic form this time around.
It’s Stan Lee’s “Regards, Shodan”
He was great! Loved the shirt!
I am wondering if they will ever get around to addressing his “selective mutism” around women. I think it would be fun to see him attempt some therapy, that does not involve alcohol.
I always thought that Jane Lynch was hilarious as the shrink “Dr. Linda Freeman” on “Two and a Half Men”; she really gives Charlie and Alan some good, fun psychiatric consultations – I wonder if Raj would be attracted to her?
I’d love to see Raj reach the point at which he can at least talk to Penny, even haltingly. It would demonstrate some growth in their relationship.
Or maybe he can meet an attractive gal with whom he would be comfortable speaking.
I was thinking he could use the shirt for that; program in some standard phrases, and when he meets a woman, he can tap a few buttons and speak, in a sense.
“Hi, I’m Raj.”
“Fine, thanks, how are you?”
“Yes, but the rest of my family is still in India.”
“I’ll have a beer, please.”
and he’s in.
Either that, or it would have been funny if even the shirt went silent when Penny was around.
Raj and Penny need to be put in a situation where he has to speak to her or die (metaphorically if necessary.) That way they can share a break-through moment and bond, and she can then be his wingwoman sometimes.
Given that this was a callback to the “Penny falls in the shower” episode, I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have anything about Leonard learning that Sheldon had seen Penny’s butt as well as accidently getting to second base.
“Ohh, you’re feeling anxiety and anger because I placed my hand on one of your sexual partner secondary sexual characteristics. Well that’s understandable. I am a genetically superior example of the species. Millions of years of evolution have led you to the desire to compete with me, while only a few thousands of years of civilization have led you to the knowledge that it would be futile.”
Oh, I had not thought of that. You are right, that would have been fun to see!
You have a great grasp of “SheldonSpeak”, by the way. I can picture (and hear) him saying your quote. Very good!
They had that. Remember when Raj was in People Magazine and acted like a jerk to Penny. The he came over and was going to leave Penny an apology note but Penny came out and wouldn’t accept the note insisting that if he wanted to apologize he do so with words. Which Raj managed to do.
Interesting. I missed that episode!
How much of a geek am I that as soon as Raj’s shirt appeared, I immediately figured that it had to be something from Thinkgeek? (But not enough of a geek to check immediately.)
The character of Leonard is suffering the most of any of them on this show. Raj and Howard are still doing fine - as funny as ever when they get screen time. But Leonard’s character is being reduced to little more than someone who rolls his eyes or sighs in exasperation at everything Sheldon does, and that’s about it. He’s not even a good straight man any more - Penny has taken over that role, and is doing a lot better with it.
