Big Brother 12 - Season Thread

The Four Horsemen, in the DNA season. They didn’t make it all the way, though.

Scott and Jase were eliminated fairly early that year, so they don’t stack up.

I’ve also heard mention of the Nerd Herd, but don’t know who that is.

You can read about the nerd herd in the Big Brother 6 wiki page.

House was divided in half.

IIRC, there was a big cry fest when Cappy left. Kind of like the coven who cried when Jesse left last season.

The Nerd Herd (they called themselves The Friendship) were the half of the house in Season 6 who kind of accumulated around the short balding firefighter, “Cappy”. When Kasar orchestrated his eviction, the Friendship got really, really creepy cultlike about Cappy’s “memory”. I hated those people so badly…

Sure glad the Big Brother highlight package had 3 minutes of Rachel’s laugh.

That episode was so weak. “Never before seen footage” my ass.

I had lukewarm interest in that recap show to start with , but once the cackling started I had to leave the room. I’d love to see those producers with some ants and magnifying glasses out in the sun.

I haven’t immersed myself as far as you have, Ellis Dee, so I could be very wrong. But I think Hayden is the likely winner.

The thing is that Enzo did make a few enemies (hopefully someone in the jury house has told Britney about the way he talked about her), while I don’t think Hayden has anyone really pissed at him. Lane is pretty well-liked all-around, but Hayden is probably better-liked, not to mention he clearly needs the money more. With all the lying about back-story everyone did, Lane should have joined in–If everyone knows your family’s loaded, it can work against you in the final vote.

Because of the rich family angle, I predict Enzo would beat Lane if they’re the final, though Hayden’s clear superiority in challenges makes that unlikely.

I agree. Right now I put the odds of winning among the final 3 at Hayden 100%, Lane 0%, Enzo 0%.

The only chance for that not to happen is if Lane wins the last HoH and takes Enzo. In that scenario I’d give Enzo a 60% chance to beat Lane in the final. Lane does too, which is why he’ll never bring Enzo with him. In Lane’s mind, he has zero chance to win, so his only decision is who would he rather give 500k to. The answer to that question is Hayden, now and forever.

He even told Britney straight up in a private conversation after she knew she was leaving. He isn’t bringing Enzo because Hayden getting nothing would be far worse than Lane only getting 50k, which he’s getting no matter what anyway. (She was trying to explain to him that he’d have a better chance against Enzo, but he wasn’t having it because he simply refuses to give Enzo 500k.)

0% chance? Whats that translate to in odds? 1,000,000 to 1?

If you are booking bets at 0% chance, I’ll take a dime’s worth at Million to one on Enzo and another dime at on Lane at Million to one

I gave Britney my vote(s) for AC, and she was leading in many online polls. Now it would appear she really needs it since her and Nick’s house burned down last night.

Here’s the main thread on jokers: Diseaster. Nick and Brit’s house just burned down

Nick himself posted to the thread:

That’s one shitty welcome home present for Britney.

Based on the thread, one of the jokers mods got the news via phone call from Stacy, Matt’s wife. Stacy, Nick, and Enzo’s wife Joella became close over the summer, apparently.

The first link in the above post doesn’t go anywhere but there’s this:

It says that Nick moved in and moved Britney’s stuff into the house after she had left to do BB. So it sounds like she never really lived there, which may soften the blow a little.

Yeah, jokers has been moving stuff around. Dead links galore.

Here’s a link to Nick’s longer post. To sum up, he was asleep when the fire broke out, he woke up to a crackling sound like hail and then heard a window break. He got one of their dogs and got out, then went back in and searched for several minutes with a flashlight until he found their second dog and got it out. All their stuff is soaked, half their stuff destroyed.

He’s flying out to LA at noon, and the producers and he have agreed not to tell Britney until after tonight’s show. What a major downer exit interview that’s going to be.

Here’s that same linked article above but from the actual newspaper site.

I really hope Nick was listening to Britney’s soliloquy to him earlier in the season when she told him to get renter’s insurance.

As a quickie timeline, Britney met Nick in December, they did the long distance thing for a couple months, she moved closer to him for a few months, they found this house then she went on the show. He moved her stuff in after she left. He also proposed the night before she left, or at the earliest that week. Six months after meeting her, two of which was a long distance thing.

I can imagine with such a short time knowing her he must be in agony today from wondering how tonight is going to go.

If this happened a few days ago, a cynic might think the house was torched intentionally to get sympathy votes for America’s choice.

But as it happened last night, I doubt if there is much time to influence the votes.

Online voting closed yesterday afternoon. I don’t text, but I believe text voting closed at midnight Pacific, which would be 2am Nick’s time. Nick said the fire broke out at 1:30am, so no online voting and only a half hour of texting.

In a surprise twist, the show ended the exact way everyone thought it would. Not one surprise, but since I was rooting for pretty much that ending I don’t mind.

Lane blew his one chance during the jury questioning. He should have said he made a power move to get rid of Ragan by putting up both remaining Brigade members to keep Britney safe. Ragan would have won out, so he was the bigger threat. Neither Hayden nor Enzo could see that and wanted to backdoor Britney that week. Oh well, Lane is about as dodo as they come so whatever.

I knew who each person was voting for either because it was a guarantee (Britney for Lane, Enzo for Hayden) or by their final statement. When Rachel and Brendon played the “social game” card it was obvious they were going for Lane. When Kathy mentioned the sock puppet, obvious for Hayden.

Matt surprised me, though. He said he was voting for the person most active in the planning and execution of his eviction. Sure it was Hayden’s idea, but that move was accomplished by Lane all the way. He’s the one who managed to convince his side alliance to backdoor one of her own allies. Hayden did very little there; Lane did the heavy lifting. So I thought he was voting for Lane, which would have given Lane the 500k in a stunning upset.

No matter. My favorite couple both won money again, so IMO this season was all good. By my count, Lane won $51,091.17 (50k second place + 1k in first HoH of season + 91.17 from Pandora’s Box) and Britney won $42,500 (25k America’s Choice + 10k Hide and Seek + 7,500 stipend for making the jury house.) That’s a decent haul for both, so good on them. (I’m pretty sure 1st and 2nd place don’t get the stipend, which is $750 per week you’re in the game or jury house, up to 10 weeks.)

I read somewhere that the producers are going to do a live feed auction for stuff from in the house to raise money for Britney, which is a nice move. Probably get an extra couple grand out of that. I just hope Nick isn’t found negligent in that fire, because that could ruin him, and by extension Britney if they get married. Spouses share all liability, right? Ugh.

That was a satisfying, if somewhat odd finale. By “odd” I mean that I’m usually really hoping someone wins and someone doesn’t, but this time I would have been fine wither way. Hayden definitely deserved it for winning all the comps, particularly at the end. He won physical and mental comps, and he played a fantastic game.

I liked some of the cast interaction too. I thought it was hysterical the way Rachel tried to be PC with Monet and she basically stuck to her guns about calling Rachel skanky. On live TV. Good times. I felt bad for Britney sitting there, knowing what grenade was waiting for her when she got finished.

All in all, a good season after a somewhat rocky beginning.

Same here, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that she seems to have taken the news in stride. Here is an interview 10 minutes after she got the news, and she seems to have a pretty good attitude about it. (The fire stuff starts at 1:57.) No doubt all she heard was something like there was a fire, nobody was hurt, some stuff was destroyed; that kind of thing. But she did manage to get a joke in there about it.

Forgot to mention earlier my very favorite moment on the finale, which was Rachel’s expression when Britney won AC. That was an awesome and satisfying end to the season.

So despite him saying he didn’t make any money on the show, Enzo will be getting the $7,500, right?
