Big Brother 13 Season Discussion Thread

According to a statement he released, a friend of his was having problems and needed him, but he didn’t go into detail.

I was wondering just what kind of example does this guy think he’s setting. I know, I know, he’s hardly the only religious person out there acting like a hypocrite. But he walks into the house and immediately starts talking about ogling women. Not to mention his lying and acting like an all around ass.

Did anyone see this article about Jeff? What a dick.
(Not spoilers and CBS probably won’t show it).

Yeah, not really new. He used the “f-word” (not the four-letter one) several times during his first season, but it never made the show.

To be fair, he DID go back to Kalia later to apologize and admit he was wrong.

ETA: I’m a fan of him and Jordan (mostly Jordan and not really him (because of this kind of thing)), so I may be giving too much of a pass.

One would think that the lesson from Survivor RI, (Assuming they watched it) was that jumping on the veteran’s boat early on is a good move. (unless it’s Russell) If I was a newcomer, I would have approached them and offered to be part of their team.

I still don’t see the newcomers understanding the thrust of this game. They are in direct competition with their partner, yet they continue to share their strategies with each other.

Damn, well that’s disappointing. :frowning:

So a charming, dopey, ignorant guy continues to be charming, dopey and ignorant. Alert the media.

My threshold for charming must be set at a different level.

Wow, too bad about Jeff’s tirade. He seemed like the only adult on the Veteran’s team last night after Dick left. Good lord were those people over-reacting. It’s week one, anything can happen. Yeah, things got seriously worse for your numbers, but it’s far from over. To quote Belushi: “Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”

Actually, the serious numbers disadvantage for the veterans tends to even it up in my mind. As everyone said upthread, the vets have a huge advantage in a game like this. I tend to think that these types of shows shouldn’t mix vets and noobs. All-star seasons are fine, but look at last season’s Survivor. That was Mariano in a walk.

I kept thinking that Dick really screwed them in this first vote, but actually his leaving has no impact on it other than he’s not there to manipulate people. Originally there would have been 5 veteran votes (Rachel as HoH only breaks ties) and 6 non-nominated rookies, meaning the vets would have to pull one rookie over to them to win the vote.

With Dick gone, There are now 4 veteran and 6 rookie votes, so again they only need to pull one rookie to their side and Rachel can then break the 5-5 tie. So that’s a wash with how it would have been, which makes all the bellyaching in the HoH room all the more comical.

Where Dick really screwed the vets is in the second HoH competition, where it would have been him & Dani and J&J competing against the rooks. Now, the only team competing for the vets is J&J, and Jordan could easily drag that team down to utter incompetence like we saw in the veto competition. (I’ll not spoil what the comp is; these are just general observations.)

Are you saying he’s never charming, or are you only fixating on his ignorant outbursts and pretending that the other 99% of the time he continues to be an asshole?

I thought he was a charming nice guy til that. Now it’s skewed it all.

It felt like a bit of a time warp was going on during Wednesday night’s show. People IN the Diary Room were talking, in the present tense, about whether or not Dick was still in the Diary Room!

I wonder if there’s one post in the 4400+ posts you’ve made to the forums that would paint you in an unflattering light, and if so, should it skew our perception of the other 4400?

EDIT: Note that I’m not arguing that Jeff’s outbursts (last season’s isn’t forgotten) are justified or fine or whatever. I’m arguing that he’s a charming, dopey, ignorant guy, and that isolated outbursts don’t invalidate the fact that most of the time, he is, in fact, charming. If those isolated outbursts are unforgivable, that’s fair, but that’s a different issue.

If that one post is something bigoted towards gays/blacks/Jews/etc. then yeah, you’re damn right it’ll skew perception of every other post you write. IMO, once you display homophobia, you’re no longer charming. Being a straight male, it probably doesn’t bother you as much as other people in this thread.

This is a semantic issue. Charming is a behavior. It’s like saying he’s no longer polite. I have no problem with someone saying he’s no longer a good person, or he’s an asshole, or whatever, but his behavior remains unchanged.

I’m gonna go ahead and Godwinize a Big Brother thread, heh. Hitler was undeniably charismatic. Same idea.

I’d almost forgotten what a weenie Brendan is…if you have to constantly prevent anyone from ever suspecting that you’ve been “demasculinated”, it’s too late already.

I saw Keith get the boot last night, but I missed the HOH. Who won?

6 to 4 vote. Looks like the two girls, crossed voted for the veterans. Wonder if the three girls (including Porsche) will be voting with the vets of if Keith just pissed them off more than Porsche.

Get it right, man. It’s demasculatized.

Jordan won HOH.

Jordan

Thanks Southern Yankee. (Yea!)
