Big Love 5:08 "The Noose Tightens" (Open Spoilers)

One of my biggest problems with this show over the long haul are the plotlines they’ve either dropped or never tried to flesh out. Examples include but are not limited to:

-The absent backstory over how House Henricksen and House Grant reunited (this is as weird as an Atreides/Harkonnen alliance after all)

-The lack of siblings and half-siblings
Polygamy is primarily for the begetting of absurd numbers of children. Roman had at least 13 wives and at least 31 children (which is actually a surprisingly low number with that many women). We only know 2 of his kids. I find it highly unlikely that his at least 2 dozen other kids would just roll over and let Alby take over when he was already hated. Also, Frank had many other wives but only one other kid is mentioned by a wife other than Lois even when he’s kicked off the compound; you’d think there’d be many half-siblings and Bill would be in contact with a few.

-What is Don Embry’s back-story- how did he meet Bill and decide to go into business with him? Why isn’t Bill more involved with Don’s sect since they’re obviously a lot more progressive than Juniper Creek and would give a sense of community?

-Hollis Greene never sought vengeance for having his arm hacked off? He doesn’t really seem the forgiving type.

-Joey and Wanda just sank into a hole in the earth?

-No investigation was ever launched into the murder of JJ and his wife- even by the son whose medical clinic was burned down around them?

-Sissy Spacek’s evil lobbyist just ‘took it’ lying down?

-Lois sues Frank for half his assets sending him into a murderous rage but it’s apparently dropped, as are her brother’s various cons.

Then the obviously changed backstories: Nikki’s first marriage, Selma is identified as Roman’s sister (contradicting a couple of things previously said), etc… They don’t follow through on nearly enough plotlines.

To add to Sampiro’s list of unfinished plotlines…
Ray Henry, the prosecutor that Nicki totally screwed with, both professionally and personally.
This was one of my favorite plotlines and it just …went away.

He’s gotta still be out there somewhere, watching the events unfold. I am still really suprised that he didn’t prosecute Nicki for obstruction of justice.

I rewatched part of this episode last night…did anyone else find a bit of “Juniper Creek” in Cara Lynn hitting up Greg Ivey for $2000 for math camp? I mean, she was acting like there was no way she could go if he didn’t pay … even though her new adoptive father ( as financially troubled as he may be now ) has succesful businesses and the resources to support 3 families and the Safety Net program. How much are they paying for tutoring, anyway? Of course Bill would pay for camp, he’s spent years paying for Teeny to be at camp like 45 weeks a year.

And Rhonda is a widow now, which kind of nullifies Ben’s excuse for not getting involved with her.

I cannot see Bill as the “prophet” of Juniper Creek.

If they go this route, I will be pissed off. I don’t think they will, but, of course, knowing the slapdash, pinheaded, lazy, slop-assed, execrable, miserable bloated low-down pissed-up scumbags who write the “plots” for this show, anything is possible. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Vince Gallo showed up and shoved his cock down Nicki’s throat.
