What I want to see goes something like this:
Teeny goes back to camp.
Margene becomes a minor local celebrity as the independent single mom on VSN, and begins to make even more money doing local endorsements and public appearances — this becomes an increasing sore spot with the rest of the family and makes her really resistant to the idea of the family “coming out”.
Then she is featured as the Greater Salt Lake City area’s most eligible bachelorette in a local lifestyle magazine, which really burns Barb and Nikki. The article is seen by Ray Henry, who contacts her.
Bill gets elected and insists on coming out, so Margene (who has started to see Ray Henry on the side) dumps the whole lot of them ---- Ray protects Margene by cutting a deal with Bill to support him in exchange for him leaving Margene out of his story. Ray and Margene marry and become Salt Lake City’s hot new power couple.
Ana and her husband come vist often.
Meanwhile, Teeny comes home from camp and convinces Bill and Barb to let her attend boarding school.
I also think it reflects how differently they each view their relationship, Margene is seeing a 10K loan while Bill thinks of the 10K as an investment he made in the family that is going to pay off…money will become an issue soon because Bill is going to see her check as “family” money that he can control and she’s not going to want to give it up that easily. Margene is, on some level, thinking that her marriage is a marriage of equals and she is overdue for a big reality check soon.
