Can anyone explain why the subject of Clinton’s marijuana use came up in the Brokaw interview in the first place? I mean, who gives a fuck?
Thanks I enjoyed that.
Remember that “song” Telstar? I always thought it had an interesting sound.
Has this already been used in this thread? I haven’t read it so I don’t know.
It doesn’t bother me. Chime right in.
Come quick! Starving Artist is angry at a Democrat! It happens so infrequently you’d hate to miss it.
I know you weren’t responding to SA, but he already said in this thread why he cares: because he believes it balances out or counters the constant stream of threads here about lies and alleged malfeasance on the parts of folks like Bush, Beck, Cheney, Palin, etc.
Thread winner.
Maybe they should just stop, and maybe (just a thought) do some, I dunno, NEWS?
My point is, it just doesn’t matter. Clinton should either say “hell yeah I toked, so shut up” or “mind yer own damn business”. OK, cool. But of course, he would then catch hell for “being a pothead”. It’s like the “when did you stop beating your wife” trick, or some form of “you never proved you never killed and ate anyone”.
Its not new, it’s not newsworthy, it’s just stupid. Besides, if we want to tar and feather him for lying about such a ridiculous thing, what about ALL the others who lie or have lied at one time or another? That includes you, me, everyone.
And he’s angry at a Democrat for something that didn’t happen in 1968!!
So that makes this, like, a once in a lifetime SA posting, right?
:smack::smack::smack::smack::smack:
Not IN 1968, SINCE 1968!
Do try to keep my gripes straight please.
I’m starting to suspect that those two qualities are connected.
Yeah, same old same old.
Oh, I don’t know. You haven’t heard me rail against Obama or Johnson or Kennedy (who by today’s standards would be Republican anyway) like you have Clinton or Carter. And Johnson instituted more social programs of the type I oppose than either of the other two.
Oh God, not social programs!
Clinton’s out of office. He can’t do much “damage” anymore. Let it go. And, which social programs of Johnson’s were the bad ones? I’m just curious if it’s some of them or all of them.
An honest question: when one smokes a cigar, you don’t fully inhale, do you? Aren’t you supposed to draw, to puff, but only contain the smoke in your mouth? This has always been my interpretation of what Clinton said, that he puffed, but like a cigar, and that he didn’t inhale the smoke into his lungs. That makes perfect sense to me, I never understood what all the fuss was over, and all the griping and whining from his detractors has been much ado about nothing.
I agree with this. I’d probably hate the dude in real life. I remember not long after he left office he said something to the effect that there was so much complaining about somebody he pardoned that if he had to make the decision again he wouldn’t have granted the pardon. That really irked me. Shouldn’t pardoning be about whether justice is being served or not?
And just who *was *President in 1968?
IT WAS JOHNSON!!1!ZOMG1!11!1
:D;)
I detect an inconsistency, sir.
That’s a fair statement. Maybe the news shouldn’t report on whether Trig Palin is Sarah’s or whatever the fuck the daughter’s name is. Maybe they shouldn’t report Eddie Murphy picking up transvestites. Maybe they shouldn’t report on a married Steve Phillips getting his knob polished by a 20 year old girl. Maybe they shouldn’t report on Rush Limbaugh popping oxycontin like they are Smarties. Maybe they sholdn’t report on John Edwards knocking up his flunkie. The problen is, they do.
Why? Because the American public cares about the most most base, prurient, salacious personal details in it’s celebrities’ lives and there is a fuckload of money to be made in appealing to America’s absolute insatiability with this. Why does the American public care about this shit? Ya got me, but the National Enquirer, the Star, and the Weekly World News have massive circulations for a reason.
All that being said, I don’t think there is any representation from the NBC news department on the Dope, so I am not sure why you bring it up.
Except that wouldn’t happen. Ask Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, A-Rod, and Andy Pettite about how they were treated by the press before and after they fessed up. Now go ask Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmiero, and Barry Bonds. Once you fess up the press disappears like the cocaine bar at W’s Governor’s Inauguration.
You’re right. I agree with you. It DOESN’T t matter. To ME… and you apparently… it isn’t newsworthy. To millions of others however, it is as long as he continues to lie about it. So Billy-boy, compadre, amigo, kemosabe, man the fuck up, quit lying and move the fuck on.
I wonder how many, what percentage, of these “concerned citizens” lit up a roach or hit a bong in their youth? I’d say given their moral outrage, it’s a fair question.
