Of all the crazy shit shoveled in this thread, this cracked me up the most. What language do you think most native German speakers do understand? You needn’t mention dialects, because those Germans (and Austrians and Swiss et al) who speak dialect are generally perfectly able to understand High German. I’ve talked to many, many Germans in my life (because, well, I have lived there my whole life), and never met anyone who didn’t understand High German. Your statement is utter rubbish.
