Why is Shannen Doherty (of 90210 fame, of course) possessed of the most uneven pair of eyes i have ever seen? I’ve wondered about this for a long time, but until i saw a rerun of her hosting SNL i didn’t care enough to think about it much. but she was holding her head tilted the whole time to avoid looking at the camera straight on. but it’s unmistakable: one eye is about an inch higher on her face than the other one, and it’s also significantly farther from her nose and closer to her ear.
Why?? and how can anyone watching her fail to notice this? noticing this, how can they fail to be constantly irked by it? being irked, how can they stomach the shows she’s on, given their relative vapidity? (no need to explain the reason anyone watches Charmed, as i believe her initials are A.M.) and how on earth did she get a job on a show ostensibly featuring good-looking people when her face makes me itch? of course, tori spelling is a dog too, but she’s in the fam.
but this brings us back to the real question: **Why??[B/]
I think Shannen’s very pretty (when she was on 90210, I used to fantasize about her being mean to me). If she has any physical flaw, it would have to be that her teeth are too widely-spaced. Like she’d need a shoestring to floss.
This is always bugged me since someone pointed it out to me years ago.
It’s especially creepy on the rare occasions on 90210 where’s there’s a shot of Brenda in a mirror. Watch the show enough (a weakness, I know), and you get used to seeing her face with one eye higher than the other. See it in a mirror, and the discrepancy is reversed and so looks twice as great.
I know a guy at work - the first time I saw him I said “Whoa, his eyeballs don’t line up!” After about a week, I’ve gotten used to it and now I don’t notice it. His are about the same as Shannen D’s, though to be honest I never noticed hers before.
“She’s got Picasso eyes…”
Maybe its the flaw the makes her hot, ala barbara’s big nose and cindy’s mole…etc. “perfect” women aren’t believable and therefore people look right past them. Take a look at the model Caprice, shes so flawless that I’ve never really known anyone to give her a second thought.
Manhattan, you wound me. i guess i don’t have much of a bright future to look forward to in the GQ area, if this is the reception i get on my first thread, eh?
but, uh… i think there are actually several general areas of inquiry that can be pursued here. humor me?
the ‘syndrome’ thing you bring up. does this happen a lot? like douglips’ coworker. what’s the deal with uneven eyes?
the question of who watched 90210, and Shannen in particular, and why. apparently some people think she’s cute. it’s a mystery to me.
the more philosophical question of whether slight physical imperfections make women (men too) more or less attractive. personally, i’ve always found cindy’s mole unappealing. as for barbara’s big nose… i’m actually sorta partial to her speech impediment, as in “good evening, this is twentwie-twentwie, and i am bawbwa wawa.” or were we not talking about barbara walters?
the tangential question, well phrased by AWB, to wit: is Tori Spelling ug-GLY!? although in this case i must admit you’re right Manhattan, this ‘question’ does not belong in this forum, as any fool can tell you it’s been empirically established that the answer is ‘yes.’
