Birthmarks, anyone?

Just wanted to know if anybody out there in SDMBland had any interesting birthmarks & would like to describe them in full, loving detail.

I’ve got two myself. The first one is a small portwine stain on my left temple. When I was a kid, everybody noticed it. Made my life a living hell. Now nobody does, or perhaps they are just too polite to mention it. The only time people comment on it is at the doctors office, which makes sense because it does look kind of like a fresh bruise. One of these days, I’m going to tell them I walked into a door, and see what they do! On a sidenote, I always wondered how my mother always knew when I lied; recently, she told me it was because my birthmark turned even darker, almost purple. Weird.

My second one is not very interesting, just a teardrop shaped mole, except the girl who used to live downstairs had the exact same birthmark on the exact same place on her shin! Freaked me out, it did.

So, those with birthmarks, please share, bonus points for interesting shapes or locations.

I have one, right in the middle of my forehead just above my eyebrows. Strange thing, though, normally it is invisible, you can only see it when I am absolutely furious, mortified, or bawling my eyes out. Sort of an emotional thermostat.

I have a group of dots in the shape of a roman numeral 2 on the inside of my right thigh

Magnificent to behold - Greatly to be praised.

Mine’s oddly multi-colored. It looks like a snake that starts at my right wrist and winds its way up my arm and onto my chest, where it’s gripping a ship that’s being held by an eagle and then it winds down my left arm and the tip of the tail ends on the back of my left hand.

And the odd thing is, I never noticed it until I woke up with a bad hangover in a gutter this morning!

I have a light brown strawberry-shaped birthmark on my left thigh.

The more you complain, the longer God lets you live.

I have a decent coffeestain under my left arm.

Anybody read “The Birthmark” by Hawthorne? I read it last week in one of my Literature classes. Good stuff.

I have a birthmark on the back of my head, right above my hairline.

The other one technically isn’t a birthmark…more of a scar. But it’s permanent, so what the hell. When I was 1 year old, I pulled a pot of coffee on myself. Scarred my upper left arm in two spots.

My son has a birthmark on his lower abdomen, right above his hip. The odd thing is that I didn’t notice it until abou a week after he was born, and even then I kept trying to wash it off when I changed his diaper (it is kind of dirty smudge colored).

I have a birthmark on my left calf. It just looks like a “tan” spot on my otherwise “pasty” leg. I never noticed it until about 5 years ago. It’s shaped kinda like Texas.
Shortly after my daughter was born, I saw that she has the same sort of mark on HER left calf, but hers is shaped like a fish, almost.
I also have a group of freckles on my right shoulder that form a nearly perfect circle.

I really don’t have any unusual ones, but I do have a small dark one over the first knuckle of my pinky finger (right at the base of the finger) that looks exactly like a birthmark that my nine-year-old has, in the exact same spot on his hand. Except mine is on my left hand, his is on the right. Still, they look identical. My three year old has a “coffee stain” one that’s about the size of my fist right on the back of his knee. My mother still tries to wash it off every time she sees it, thinking it’s dirt.

I have a real, honest to God “beauty mark” (mole) on my upper lip. Just like Madonna and Cindy Crawford, except I know mine is real. Have battled for years with a love hate thing about it. I have had people actually touch my face to see if it is real (and pull back a stump).
That’s my facinating story. You can view this incredible phenomenon here: http://www.angelfire.com/ny3/zettecity/pictures.html

be amazed and enlightened

I have two moles on the side of my neck that look exactly like a vampire bite. I used to get teased too when I was a kid about it.

I have a big, red birthmark on the outside of my upper left thigh. It’s about 5" long and 3.5" wide. The design is a large, jagged oval shape topped by three smaller jagged circles. It looks as though I was kicked by a bear. I also have a small (2"x1") birthmark on the back of my right calf which was inherited from my dad (the birthmark. and I guess the calf too). I have a “beauty mark” on the front of my right cheek. I won’t even go into a discussion about the rest of my moles; that would fill a novel.

Now, if a missing person’s report is ever issued for me, the rest of the Teeming Millions can participate in the search effort.

I have a small disappearing/reappearing coffee-stain birthmark just below my left eye. I never even noticed it until someone pointed it out when I was fourteen. It shows up in about half of my pictures. I think it shows up when I’m losing weight and disappears when I gain. Interesting, that.

Will work for sig line.

Wierd, Purple…I have the same thing, two moles on my neck like a vampire bite. They’re on my right.

I have a strawberry mark, on my neck. Yes, it looks like a hicky! It was very hard to deal with when I was little. I was teased by the older kids ALL the time. Now, it’s faded and isn’t so noticable. But it has freaked a few lovers out when they notice it!

Wow, this is just really weird but I’ve also got two moles on my neck. And they’re on my right side too! My friends always joke around saying they’re vampire bites and that I may just be a vampire, or something because of my abnormally sharp& fang-like canine teeth.

An almost eleven year zombie. Damn. It first occurred to me that something was off when someone linked to their angelfire web page.

I had a cafe a lait mark on the inside of my left forearm that was an archipelago of light brown ovals that formed an arching chain of islands about 2 1/2 inches long. A few years ago a dermatologist decided to take 'em off while denuding other areas of my upper torso and limbs of aberrant dermis/epidermis.

As an aside, I have lots of moles on my back (mostly) and throughout the rest of my bod. Wonder if there is any correlation in occurence between birthmarks and moles?

I have a large black birthmark on my ass.

Both of my parents are white people. It wasn’t until I went into the Army and it was explained to me very clearly by other black men that if a man is part black, then he is considered to be a black man.

and strangely enough, I am really crappy at playing basketball.
