I know its an impossibility but let’s play let’s pretend…
Blair stands on the Democrat ticket, he attracts the soft right from the Republicans and his market-socialism attracts traditional Democrats, being enough of a counterweight to his pro-war stance.
Advantages he would have:
He’s a much better speaker (can you imagine the head-to head debates? He’d eat Bush alive)
He’s brighter than Bush
He has better negotiating skills than Bush
He can’t be attacked as being “unpatriotic” as he is a staunch ally of the USA, to his own political detriment here in the UK
He is taller than Bush
He would be an effective fundraiser.
He’s Bill Clinton who still shags his wife, rather than his interns.
He doesn’t look like a monkey (well not much)
So how would it pan out?
(nb FWIW I can vote for Blair and don’t, because I think he’s a winnet. I also have no axe to grind with Bush – and thank our lucky stars that we aren’t an ally of President Gore)
Blair would lose because he’s a foreigner (we’ll presume he was permitted to run even though he’s a foreigner due to bizarre Constitutional amendment). Bush is American.

I’d vote for Blair on the basis of his wonderful speaking ability alone. It would be nice to have an honest and articulate politician for a change. He is honest, isn’t he?
As much as I can’t stand the man, I’d still have to say that Blair would win hands-down. Compared to Bush, he’s simply the better orator, the better statesman and the better diplomat. Blair may be sneaky, but Bush is just plain scary…
