I write reviews for a local arts 'zine, and a piece I did comparing Avatar and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was the featured article in the weekly email, which went out this morning.
Turns out that someone who gets the email is a guy I went to junior high with (at a very small private school here in Philly), who shot off an email asking if I was, in fact, the same [my real name]. I am and I am tickled to death to reconnect with him. He was a year ahead of me, so though I’ve reconnected with a couple of people from my class, no one had any direct info about this guy.
We’re having lunch next Wednesday – I’m really looking forward to it! It’s only been … omigod … 40 years …
A couple of months ago I got a letter from a gal (I’m a guy) that I went to junior high with (1962-1963) in the San Diego area. Since then, we ran into each other once, briefly, in 1974. Turns out that she now lives just a few blocks away from me in the SF Bay area, and we’ve been neighbors for 20 years. Reliving memories was such a positive experience that I’ve now looked up and found several others from that period.
and in odd coincidence news, I got an e-mail tonight headed “blast from the past,” from my first roommate in college 38 years ago, who IS single, attractive, interested in me, and available. Unfortunately for me, it was an all-male college.
