There’s a little old lady with a police scanner around here somewhere. Every now and then, when we’ve had a Night (or Day) from Hell (like last night - oy, what a night), she calls our dispatch center after everything’s died down.
“I just want you girls to know you did a wonderful job last night!” she’ll say. “You really kept on top of things, and I want you to know I appreciate it.”
No one ever thanks us. If I could find her I’d kiss her face. Thank you, little old lady. You took me from  to in two short seconds.
Good on her! I love people like that. I try to be that person too. It takes the edge of my frustration at a practical being cancelled after I’ve paid $4 for parking to know, that by sticking my still valid ticket back in the machine where people can see it, I’m making someone else’s day better.
What a nice lady! So easy to say “thank you” but so very easy to forget to do so. Great woman. And it really does make a difference if people express their appreciation.
Hey, if you are nice to her, perhaps she’ll take up expressing thanks by bringing you cakes and chocolate too.
