While I have been the recipient of blond jokes, I never seriously felt my hair color was impeding my odds of being taken seriously. Being female, that’s another thing, but hair color? Nah.

Well put.
Blonde jokes don’t bother me, some are even funny!

Well this blond doesn’t consider himself ***that ***stupid.

(emphasis mine)
Well, you wouldn’t, would you? Being blond, just how stupid *do *you consider yourself?

As someone whose IQ has never tested below 130, not very.
Oddly enough, these jokes are just as common in Scandinavia, the home turf of the Ingas and Svens.

I’m blonde and arguably smrt…

(I’d tell you it was an intentional intarweb running joke, but you wouldn’t believe me. You’re probably blonde)
I’m a blonde, I enjoy a good blonde joke. I agree that blondes are a ‘safe’ category to joke about, and probably many of the jokes are not-so-subtly ‘woman’ jokes.
What amazes me is a (brunette) friend who said she wore glasses to her academic job interview so that she would be taken more seriously. ???

There are few jobs and many applicants, and you desperately grab onto anything at all that might possibly help (when giving the job lecture or in the group inquisitorial interview, even though I don’t really need them at the time I put on my reading glasses for half a minute or so at the start). Academics might not be as sexist as they once were but there are traces (including a sort of anti-hawt approach on the part of women on the committee) so you want to look like a Real Scholar ™. Sad but true.
But… brunettes with glasses are often hotter than without!
Or was that the plan?

What’s that whooshing noise?

OK, maybe she’s less crazy than I thought. I’ll remember to wear the glasses for my first job-talk then (have at least a year and a half before I have to worry about that…). And put my blonde hair in a bun… sigh.

I have a huge weakness for women with glasses, no matter what color their hair is.

If Bond films have taught us anything it’s that a woman wearing glasses if obviously a PHD in something, no matter what colour her hair is.
