What’s a good mass market blue cheese dressing? I bought Kraft but it’s really too sweet.
I like Litehouse Chunky. My exwife hated blue cheese. It helped me to stop her from eating the best part of my salads.
My in-laws swore by Marie’s.
Litehouse, Marie’s and Ken’s are all very good.
Fast replies! Thank you.
I like Ken’s Steak House dressing. Very tangy.
This. If you aren’t at a place known for their house-made dressings, ask which one they buy. If it’s Ken’s, you’re golden. Nicely tangy blue cheese.
FYI - Ken’s is the ranch dressing used by a lot of fast food places.
Bolthouse makes a nice one, albeit made with yogurt. So it’s got that Olde Tyme yogurt tang that some find objectionable.
Marzetti is another good brand. Lots of flavor and lots of chunks of real cheese.
Both of these are refrigerated from the factory and will usually be found in the produce coolers, not on a mid-store shelf with the Kraft krap, vinegars, canned beans, etc.
You didn’t ask, but both make a very nice ranch and other more exotic flavors as well.
That depends on what you want in a Bleu Cheese dressing-Creamy, chunky, super chunky, pungent, thick, thin etc.? I like mine pungent and a bit chunky, like Litehouse Chunky Bleu.
Enthusiastically seconded. Good stuff.
And although Maytag Dairy Farms don’t make dressing, their blue cheese is near-divine: https://www.maytagdairyfarms.com/
Chunky, pungent. It’s blue cheese for crissake!
I was actually thinking about starting just this thread. Except asking if there’s a chunky blue cheese that’s actually chunky.
I’ve tried Kraft and Litehouse but they’re both about as chunky as a good bottle of ranch.
Theses folks have several types of BC dressing.
The one labeled “chunky” is especially so.
Another vote for Litehouse Chunky. It comes in big bottles from Cash & Carry.
Bob’s (Big Boy) bleu cheese and Roquefort dressings are great, but can be hard to find.
At the risk of sounding like a dick, have you considered making your own? It’s pretty easy, and doesn’t really involve any weird ingredients. Most are some combination of blue cheese and things like buttermilk, mayonnaise, garlic, worcestershire sauce, sour cream, etc… that you just literally combine.
I can still remember the first time I had Maytag blue cheese. Aaaaaaaaaaah, bliss. The closest I’ve had was from Cowgirl Creamery in Point Reyes.
Bob Big Boy’s Roquefort is quite good (I don’t like their blue cheese as much…too wimpy). But that is probably a regional brand.
I’m actually a little surprised Maytag doesn’t make blue cheese dressing. I’m sure they could do it, and I’m sure it would be knee-weakeningly good.
The only time I have had Maytag in a dressing has been at a very high-end steakhouse. And you’re right - it was amazing!
I buy Marzetti’s. It has great cheese chunks in it and it’s not too sweet
Pretty much any of the refrigerated dressings will be decent. My main rule is blue cheese must be before water or soybean oil on the ingredients list, and ideally first.
Trader Joes has a nice BC dressing as well. The label says nearly 27% of the dressing is Wisconsin blue cheese.
