Bluebell Ice Cream Is Evil And A Big Cow Statue... The MMP

Cool! I know what you mean about the post office, FCM. I bought this for my mom’s Christmas present, and FedEx got it here in 2 days. I ordered a Hurricanes jersey at the same time, and the Post Office will get it here on Saturday.
I’ve had some flapjacks for breakfast, and put down a deposit for hockey tickets so life is good. [sup]10[/sup]

Very impressive FCM. Soon you’ll be known as the crazy lady who keeps leaving homemade ceramics on the neighbors’ doorsteps.

MBG the corn maze dinner was not a fancy dinner. It was a “supper” as they called it. Stuff like big hunks of beef, taters (N.O.T.), corn on the cob etc. Plus lots of beer. Them Iowans like their beer. That’s why I fit right in there so well.

Rigs do you need the pedastal? If not, I say send it back and get a credit. Then have some chocolate.

The closing on the VunderLair is 11 AM Friday…

WOOHOO!!!

So, what time Friday afternoon does the shed demolition begin?

w00t! w00t!

That’s great, Bob.

I’ve cleaned and bleached the kitchen, and now I’m waiting for ham to thaw so I can make a strata with it and some of the thousands of sandwich buns. And I think I’ll do chocolate gingerbread with cream cheese icing, and take some to work. One of my co-workers is leaving for Italy for a week and a half, and I want to feed him and say bon voyage.

I’m still halfway caught in the dream. Do you ever have dreams that you really wish you hadn’t woken up from, because you’ll never know how it ends? I want to know if we evade capture and continue fighting crime. I didn’t like the Nazgul part, though. He looked like a creepier Gary Oldman.
I still have no idea why George Bush was in a nano-tech plastic tank.

Congrats Bobbio! That is very good news!

When do you actually get to move in?

Yay for the VunderLair! Congrats!

Moving day is tentatively 21 July. VunderWife has a moving company rep going over our stuff now…

Bobbio good idea about the moving company. That is one of those things I glady pay to have done. July 21st is the day of the annual staff pool party at the swampcave. We close up early and go party. I’ll hoist a beer in honor of VunderMovingDay.

I WANT my pedestal–it’s all ergonomic and stuff. Plus, my “laundry center” is in the basement. The pedestal comes on Friday-I’m waiting for the countertops that day…

At least today and Frday are double up days–now I am waiting for the replacement cabinet. I took #2 son to Target with me for some HE detergent. I think that what the washer saves in water costs, it makes up for in detergent prices. I used to buy the industrial stuff from Sam’s–and loved it. I get to Target and the only HE detergent I see is Tide. (He=high efficency). Now, I am NOT a Tide girl. Don’t ask why–there is no reason. I just won’t buy Tide. An ugly dilemma reared its head, until #2 son spotted HE All ad HE Wisk (I won’t buy Wisk either, due to their moronic commercial which blghted my childhood–ring around the collar, my ass!).

So, we got the All–which was on sale, btw. And we got #2 son a bug net for fireflies…

And I hopped into Kohl’s and got a new pair of sandals. I feel better. I did need the sandals, but it was more to get out into the world and NOT BE HOME.

The irony is that I am such a homebody. Then again, I always said I hated to cook, until I gutted my kitchen. Now I hate take away food…
Nice studio!

Bobster --congrats on the new home!

dogbutler, I found one of our goalie jerseys on e-bay this summer (got it for $156 - steal!) and it took three weeks to get from California to Georgia. I decided it took the scenic route.

Our league just had summer meetings, and two of the 8 teams have goalies who have reached veteran status. Each team can only have 3 vets. (vet=225 professional games) These two teams tried to have the rules amended so that goalies don’t count under the vet rule. Yeah, right. The vote failed 6-2. Imagine that. And the Knoxville owner was so sure the other teams would go along with it!

My season tickets are almost paid for,and I have two new jerseys to wear for the upcoming season. That brings my total to 14. I think that enough. Oh yeah, I said that before, didn’t I? Our season starts October 27, and the schedule should be out in a few weeks so we can start planning road trips. We have a new team in Richmond this year, and I’ve never been to Richmond.

The outgoing corresponding secretary is coming over this evening to bring me the rosters and disks and stuff to get me up to speed on the newsletter, reminder cards, etc. Fun.

Mr. SCL’s nursing patient has been in the hospital for over a week, so we have had no income. Thank goodness for the few overtime checks before! No idea when he will get out or if he will go back to his apartment. No chance of us having a vacation this summer now, damnit.

Hope everyone has a great day!

**Hooray! **
Dopefest at VunderlairMayberry!!!

bobbio, wasn’t there going to be some sort of ceremonial burning of the sheds?

Congrats!

swampy, where were you in Ioway, and WHY? for the love of God, were you there?

Mom’s family is Iowans, which gives me a point of reference. ( < That’s my point of reference) Though I’l give them points for the State Fair. Nothing, and I mean nothing beats seeing the Last Supper, life size, carved in butter.

At the Iowa state fair, you can see more tattooed, mustached, hairy legged, over-all wearing folks than anywhere else, and you know what? They all bring their husbands and boyfriends.

Thanks, I’ll be here all week. Try the veal, and remember to tip your waitress…

Congrats bobbio!!! I’d help you move/burn things, but I’m going to visit the parents in Miss. on the 22nd.
SCL, cool! I’ll only have one jersey, but I figure spending 1/3 on tickets, 1/3 on gear, and 1/3 on beer.

Burning of the sheds is likely to happen Labor Day weekend, with or without the possible hog roast.

The movers want $3200 for a 2 day, 70ish mile throw and go that crosses a state line. The estimator says we have 9000 lbs of household stuff; we came to virginia with 7000, and have a net loss since then. Yeeouch.

On top of that, I have to bring $8k to the closing. This is almost as much fun as April 15th.

BOHICA!

Congrats bobbio!! Yay!!

My (well, our) new bed was delivered last night. I have to say, I would recommend against kicking one’s new bed. I lost half a toe nail and my foot is still decidedly sore today. Yeah so kicking bed = bad. However, sleeping on bed = very very good.

I slept really well last night for the first time in a couple weeks. The new bed is firmer, but at the same time there were fewer pressure points and I felt like I could actually find a comfortable position for my shoulder. So big yay!

Unfortunately, the bedframe that I thought was a full or queen is not. It’s just a full. So until the rest of the bedroom set arrives in about a month, the new bed is on the floor. Oh well. Easier for the cat to jump on this way.

I, too, had a dream-filled night last night, but it was quite racy and I’m at work so I think I’ll refrain from discussing it in detail. I’m quite amused by your dream of getting it on with the IL governor though rigs.

What is it with the databases this week? I’m still fighting with the one I work on. Grrr.

My apartment complex is power washing and painting the buildings. Which is good. Except that it’s the middle of summer and because of the washing and painting we can’t have anything on our patios and we have to keep our windows and patio doors shut all day. For the next 3 weeks! In Minnesota where we only have about 3 nice weeks of summer anyway! I am tres annoyed. Couldn’t they have done this in like April or maybe October when we don’t care so much about being out on the patio enjoying the nice weather? And having our windows open? I really don’t like being cooped up in A/C at home when I’ve been A/C’ed all day at work. Double grrrrr.

The best thing about the Iowa State Fair was the Harley carved in butter. The deep fried twinkies (N.O.T) weren’t so hot.

Why is the baked stuff taking so long? I need to take it to work before dance class. We who are about to die- I haven’t taken class in almost a year.

<ahem> I’m one of those jerkwads. Not one of yours, though.

The problem with screensavers is that Microsoft didn’t build things in such a way that screen locking can be enforced while simultaneously allowing the screen saver to be changed. If the policy is set to allow the saver to be changed, there’s suddenly no way to enforce its existence. Stoopid Microsoft… This problem’s existed since the first release of Windows NT and they’ve not addressed it yet.

The net and email login is probably just a missing setting on your (I’m assuming) Outlook. Mine’s set to use “Kerberos/NTLM Password Authentication” - this is buried on a tab called Security in the Account setup. No guarantees that this same setting will work in your company, though. If it did work before you got a new PC, ther shouldn’t be any reason it can’t work on the new PC.

Don’t hold your breath on any shiny new operating systems in the next year, let alone six months. Vista’s not even going to come out in six months. My bet is on March, at the earliest.

Closer to home, DH is still on the hunt for a job, and in a few days, the bank will be on the hunt for a mortgage payment. Eep.

Hey now–I went to college in Iowa.
The term corn-fed does come to mind when I think of Iowans, though…

But very nice people-and they used to be liberal! and one of the highest literacy rates in the country.

I just posted in the Pit for the very first time ever. I’m a little scared. Somebody hold me.

Or maybe just send me a picture of the Last Supper carved out of butter. Senor Bus Guy, you sure do have some wacky adventures.

Congrats on the upcoming closing & move VunderBob. When we left our closing on this (our first) house, I felt like I should have at least gotten a goody bag, after handing over that much money. A couple of huge checks, and nothing to show for it. And that’s not including the horror we faced when we did our walk-through. Oh my! It was…awful. Just awful. No, really, you don’t want to know!
