Last year sometime, there was a “Blue’s Clues” special that began with Steve inviting that girl from “Seinfeld” (Julia Louise-Drefus, right? or something like that? I’ll just refer to her as JLD) and ending with her coming by his house late at night for “storytime” after the lil’uns had gone to bed.
Well, my son (devout Blue’s Clues fanatic) was given the videotape of the Pajama Party for Christmas. (Yes, I’ve since seen it 50+ times.) And… JLD is completely absent from it! She’s been left on the videotape cutting room floor! No invitation… no storytime. The PJ Party ends with Steve saying goodnight, getting into bed, and turning off the light–no late night knock on the door!
Is it because…
of some sorta contract thing with JLD, where they’d have to pay her some ungodly sum and they didn’t want to?
they decided the scenes were too “racy” for toddlers? (They aren’t.)
or what?
Why are the JLD scenes cut from the videotape release of “Blue’s Clues Pajama Party”?
I suspect that Steve being an adult and inviting a woman for a p.j. party on a children’s show would have to be censored out, otherwise there would be screaming parents everywhere.

Well, I saw the Director’s Cut and I think it kinda got racy with Julia and Steve doing tequila shooters and humping like mad rabbits on Blue’s Thinking Chair. I also noticed that she shook up Mr. Salt Shaker and tossed him against the wall after chasing one abundant Curvo shot. I thought that was a bit out of hand. But then again, that’s just my humble opinion.
Markxxx: Lots. There was a thread in MPSIMS about it not too long ago. I’m one of 'em.
My three year old daughter and I watched the pajama party when it was on TV, over and over again. They ran it all week. I thought it was cute, but I was a bit, well, surprised at the end. Maybe it’s just because I’m an adult. I don’t have the tape, though. I didn’t realize that they’d cut Julia out of it completely. Odd.

I used to rock and roll all night and party every day. Then it was every other day. Now I’m lucky if I can find a half an hour a week in which to get funky.
(not that I would know… my little cousin watches the show, yeah, that’s the ticket!)

I can’t understand why they’d edit that from the tape, though. If they showed it on Nick, why change it later? Unless they got lots of calls and letters from angry moms, and you’d think we’da heard about that.
So, yep. It’s been postulated. But a postulate is not an answer. At least this reiteration of the OP has un-hijacked the thread away from questioning Steve’s personal life.
And: Magenta’s a GIRL puppy. She’s Blue’s best friend. Further, unlike Libertarian’s “Up the Butt, Bob” quandry, I’ve got bucketloads of tapes to prove it!
I just thought I would let you know that I watched the Blue’s Clues marathon today and JLD did not appear on today’s version of the Pajama Party. Maybe it did get some bad reviews from parents!
What a shame! I guess we can close this issue by assuming that Nickelodeon (or whomever) deemed the scene inappropriate. Too bad–it added a new dimension to Steve!
(And, I should add, a cameo by JLD beats one by Rue McClanahan anyday.)
I believe the scenes with Julia Louis-Dreyfus were special scenes for the television premire of this episode. (You’ll notice they came on before the titles and after the credits.)
