'Blurred Lines' the P(o)(o)LL: Wimmenz only

I suppose I’m the last person on earth to know who Robin Thicke is. I took one look at him and said, “that’s Alan Thicke’s son.” barf smiley

And apparently he has a BIG DICK.

what if they’re uneven?

(oY.)

I don’t know the lyrics of the song, but I hate that constantly repeated “woo!” sound in the background so much that I started a thread about it a while ago. :stuck_out_tongue:

Other than that, I’ve got nothin’.

Yeah… the repeated “woo” is the least of the song’s problems. Let’s just say that “blurred lines” more or less appears to refer to the line between consenting and not.

I just realized that clip features a cameo by Alan Thicke. How apropos.

They’re still boobs!

That interpretation seems more than a little strained to me.

Yeah, reading the lyrics it seems pretty clearly “You say you’re a good girl, but I can see that you’re really nasty at heart so drop that dork and let’s go get nasty”. I’m not reading “rape” from that at all.

The “blurred line” is between good girl and bad girl, not consenting and non-consenting.

Another clue comes from the Jimmy Fallon version of the song in which Mr. Thicke answers the question, “What rhymes with hug me?” with the word ‘Rugby.’

Wanting to get nasty refers to playing dirty, and ‘hug me’ is slang for entering a scrum. It’s a song about playing Rugby.

I’ve never understood the rape interpretation either. I’ve always thought the blurred lines were between being a good and nasty girl, as well as the blurred lines of what constitutes cheating. All tongue-in-cheek, and over-the-top sleazy/creepy.

I read an interview with Thicke somewhere that he and Pharrell wrote it from the perspective of a couple of dirty old men sitting on the porch yelling dirty things at pretty girls.
