I was very critical of this show when it premiered but now I like it.
Necroing this necause indeed, i am a VindictiveAss at least regarding this show.
Those two are for the posters who bragged oh so long ago about being so much smarter and in a better family position and “that is why they could get” the so called comedy of the show.
And talking about current ratings after the end of year:
It is bad enough to be under even American Dad ratings wise… seriously terrible level of unfunny, just as Black Mage’s Hadoken from 8bit theater sucked happiness from the world and increased the divorce rate with each use, Bob’s sucks laughter away from the world with each episode that airs.
You can reply and discuss all you want, i’m heading out after this singular post, buh bye!
It’s not like I’m a huge fan of this show, but I like it and think it’s pretty clever. So, I will rebut your arguments even if you won’t be returning to this thread.
a) Poor people can’t like good things? Is that your argument?
b) Popularity is a good proxy for quality? Is that your argument?
As noted before, the voice acting is top notch and the stories are clever and full of interesting, quirky characters.
Not that you’ll return, but those posters were clearly responding to the OP who said that the show must only appeal to stupid people.
Anyway, welcome to the Dope. You’ll probably hate it!
I stand by my above post of (nearly) four years ago! Bob’s Burgers is better than all the McFarlane shows combined. And yes, if you don’t get it you’re just not well-read enough to appreciate truly great comedic storytelling! It’s pedigree of Dr. Katz, Home Movies, Hey Monie! etc. speaks for itself.
Oh, dear. Someone on the internet doesn’t like something that I mildly enjoy. However will I continue living?
The surprising thing is I saw producer Dan Mintz doing an interview for another movie - and that’s his real voice. He sounds like Tina in normal conversations.
If it’ll make you feel better, you can squeeze my butt.
Well I’m poor and it’s my favorite show, actually the only show I consistently watch so I guess you win.
THIS TIME! :waves fist:
I love Bob’s Burgers and I’m not poor. I’ve never seen an episode of Modern Family and I’m not rich either. So? BB is still on prime time and I will watch it in syndication for as long as Adult Swim will play it. (American Dad and Family Guy also. And FXX’s The Simpsons marathons when nothing else is on. I love my mindless cartoons when I’m winding down to go to bed.)
I find the show amusing and the two younger kids get a lot of good lines, but I could take or leave it.
Am I allowed to point out that one of the reasons I mildly like it is that it features a non-dysfunctional family? I guess “functional” would be the word for that. They’re all quirky, but they all like each other and get along and are just generally all good people. I find that refreshing.
Unfortunately, this makes you either a lamewad or a lameoid. I’m not sure which.
I love this show (but I’m a pretty big fan of anything from Loren Bouchard.) It seems to be reasonably popular and is a critical darling, so why are the dvd releases so weird? S2 and S3 are only available through certain outlets and might even be pressed “on demand.”
I assumed this was a* Bob’s* reference, but the google seems to know nothing about it (except this thread).
Anyway, Intergalactic, I’m not bummed somebody hates a show I like OK, but I am having a sucky day. Whaddya say?
I’ve watched it twice and laughed at the gags throughout. I don’t quite get it and have trouble getting into an episode.
Whoops, I should have gone with touching my butt. I hope this clarifies.

I watched the pilot episode several years ago and thought it was very unfunny and filthy, nothing more.
Recently, I watched a season 5 episode (with the turkeys) and thought it was the funniest thing on TV. Will have to catch up on the remainder of the episodes.
