Allen Gregory cancelled.

I’m now questioning my atheist beliefs.

Toward the bottom of article.

I’ll wager the rest of my life’s salary that Napoleon Dynamite is next.

Has it even started yet? Not that I have any intention of watching it, it looks pretty awful (but then, I wasn’t a huge fan of the movie).

Good.

I haven’t heard such terrible news since that time I was at Andy Warhol’s New Years’ party and found out Yoko Ono had spilled the last bottle of Chateau Margaux all over Jerry Hall’s Russian sable.

Did anyone actually like that show? I wanted to give it a chance but found it so contrived and unfunny that I couldn’t watch more than one episode.

Yay!

I’ve never seen it, but the promos guaranteed that. It just looked awful, and I really wanted to reach into the TV and slap the taste out of that boy’s mouth. All that from a couple of 30-second promos.

My tivo-like setup would record part of it with another show (maybe The Simpsons) and I guess I’m in the minority here, I thought the bits I saw weren’t bad.

I watched every single episode. Each one just as bad as the next. I don’t mind the unlikeable protagonist, it’s just when it’s horribly unfunny and the schtick is predictable that it gets on my nerves. Also, the over-arcing plotline was contingent on things that the next episode shrugged off. Yeah, it’s a cartoon, but don’t insist upon premises and fail to deliver each time.

It had an uphill battle with the premise and the final product just didn’t deliver.

i hope this means bob’s burgers is coming back?

only if they change the animation style and a few of the voice actors. That show was funny, but Og, it looked awful.

While I’m not defending the show by any means, I don’ t get the especially vitriolic hatred this show inspires. I wasn’t even aware of it’s existence until I saw this thread, and most likely would never have bothered to watch an episode apart from the fact that there was SO MUCH rage directed against it. I kept asking myself “could this show really be THAT bad?”

Well, I watched one and a half episodes. It’s not good, but I wouldn’t say it
merits the amount of outraged it has inspired. To me, it was basically one big “meh”, boring animation, stock characters, insipid, uninspired stories. Frankly, it was just dull. Why are so many people up in arms against such a mediocre nothing show? “Working It” - which has sexism, homophobia & pure idiocy working against it - doesn’t inspire the same level of hatred.

I watched bits and pieces of episodes but ever stuck with it. I didn’t dislike it, maybe that’s why I never watched a whole episode. I think in these days you can’t purposely use crappy animation in an attempt to be funny. Even South Park and the Simpsons have made huge advancements over the years and look miles better then they used to.

Remember Dr Katz? I get a headache just thinking about the way they animated that show.

I loved Dr. Katz so I thought I would like Bob’s Burgers. Maybe I made an imaginary connection due to the similar visual styles (similarly, I also love Home Movies) and the fact that all three have some voice actors in common.

Like with Allen Gregory, I could only watch one episode. Something about the mom competing in a spaghetti competition and the son telling jokes…I don’t even remember, my brain flushed it out so quickly. No, it wasn’t TERRIBLE but when a show is so bland and dull that you feel like watching it to the end is a chore, that’s not entertainment.

Right here. But I accept that I’m in the minority. To me, it was mostly mediocre but I’d always get a couple of big laughs out of each episode.

I can understand people being ambivalent about it, but the abject hatred truly truly baffles me.

Yes! I’m so happy! I knew it wouldn’t last and I’m so glad its gone. I felt like the Eye of Sauron directing his malice and hatred towards the unspeakable vileness that is Allen Gregory and unlike the book, I succeeded in its death.

Tonight the blood will flow like wine and the celebration will last until dawn!

I’ve said it before: Allen Gregory made me wish that The Cleveland Show would air in reruns. It was that bad.

I’ll stand with you planetcory. Not a great show, and my wife hated it, but it could get a good joke out there occasionally.

I’ve never heard of it, so one strike. It’s improperly using Gregory as a last name, so two strikes. And it misspells Alan (my dad’s name), so strike three. I’m happy it’s getting canceled, whatever it is.

Wow, unreasonable and uninformed rants are actually pretty fun! Maybe I should give Fox News another chance.
