Within an hour of telling my MIL that I had inheireted a few thousand dollars, AND making her promise not to tell the rest of the family… I got a call from my husbands brother, asking if his wifes Uncle could borrow some money. I had only met the Uncle a couple of times, enough to know he was definately involved in illegal activities.
Well, this one didn’t happen to me but it happened to a really good friend of mine. Apparently an acquaintance called him up and asked to borrow a few thousand dollars to buy a new quad runner because “My credit isn’t good enough to get the really great rates that are currently being offered”. If you can’t guess it didn’t happen.
Went on a business trip and a co-worker asked me to come have dinner at her house and to meet her husband and kids. I did and it was nice and all. Afterwards the kids finally went to bed and it was getting late and I said I needed to get back to the hotel the husband asked if I wanted to stay a bit longer, the wife then simultaneously popped in a porn video and asked if I’d like to come back the the bedroom and have sex with her and her husband.
I cannot believe someone else was in this situation!
An ex-coworker of mine has a nephew who is a habitual drug offender and seller. I am vehemently anti-drug. I also collect CDS and have some very rare and valuable ones.
When her nephew got arrested, she asked me for help in posting bond. I said “Look, I’m anti-drug and I don’t have the money to post bond anyway.” Her response? “Well, if you sell your CDS you would.” I just look at her nonplussed. She then asked “So he did drugs. What’s wrong with that? People do drugs every day.”
What’s wrong with that? Maybe * it’s illegal *. She was very pissed that I wouldn’t help her.
And…
My parents hosted a family reunion this summer–my father cooked a pig (southern Pig Pickin’), and a good time was had by all. A few months ago, my mom’s cousin, who attended the reunion and is not close to my mom at all–they speak once a year at the most, called to ask if my dad would cook a pig for his son’s engagement party. My mom said she’d ask my dad and get back with him. Her cousin then asked her if she would host the party (at her house, and she’s only met his son a couple times). She said she would get back with him. He called back a couple weeks later, and my mom said she would host the party at our house if he would provide all food, paper products, etc. He got upset, and hung up on her. We (thankfully) haven’t heard anything from him since.
My wife’s father “went walking” when she was about 6 and her only sister was about 10. He pretty much emptied out their accounts too. My MIL, whose household had a maid when she was growing up, took a crappy job with the county. She also had to deal with my now wife asking “When is Daddy coming home?” Wife and her sister had to choose one toy each, and they had to sell the rest.
About 5 years later, my MIL got a call from her husband’s family asking if she could come up with bail money. Her husband had apparently passed a few bad checks.
The MIL refuses even now to say anything bad about the hubby, but she was at least smart enough not to give him anything.
An ex-girlfriend once asked if I would make her look like she had been raped (i.e. beat her up) so her current boyfriend would pay more attention to her.
I declined.
When I delivered Pizza kids would always yell:
“Gimmie a free pizza!”
I began to yell back: “gimmie your game-boy!” and they shut up.
Two days after I moved into a new house, the little girls from next door came over and said their mother wanted to know if they could stay with us that night. Mommy had a date. (I was horrified. The only words every exchanged between the mother and I were, “Hi. I’m your new neighbor, Lissa.” For all she knew, we cooked and ate children for breakfast.)
Less than a week later, the little girls came over in the morning to ask if I would drive them to school because Mommy had overslept.
“Shouldn’t we name our son, Sean?”
All within less than 72 hours after personally meeting a woman I had only talked and chatted with.
PS: “Sean” was the name of her former lover.
The kids are at their dad’s for the weekend. Hubby and I having some fun being naked. The doorbell rings and it’s friends with their kid. “Hey, we’re on our way to the lake and thought we would drop off Junior to play with your kids”. I tell them the kids aren’t here and they still have the nerve to ask if we’ll watch their kid. They never spoke to us again, thank god.
I used to run with a gal who was much more fun, spontaneous and imaginative than I could handle. We dated briefly and a few weeks after we stopped going out she called me to say that she was pregnant with our child which was pretty imaginitive considering it was physiologically impossible. I stopped taking her calls and thought that that was that until about a year later when my supervisor unwittingly hired her to work in our department.
We became buds again but she decided that after having spent a few years in the states that she was not on track to achieving the american dream and would be returning to her country of origin to help with the family business.
About a month prior to her departure she inquired whether I would be interested in having sex with her several times a night until she left because she wanted to have a baby. I respectfully declined and she then suggested that if I were uncomfortable with her raising my child by herself, that we should get marrried.
I had an ex once…before we became an item, I went out a few times with her and her friends. One night, she told me that one of her friends wanted me to give her an orgasm. That’s a direct quote. From a girl I’d met once, for about ten minutes, and not even really had a conversation with.
Considering I was 19 at the time (and very much a virgin), I had no idea what to think of that.
Nothing. I left, I was/am happily married and wouldn’t jeopardize that. It wasn’t a big deal really it was just weird because it was so* out of the blue. Had there been any indication that things were leading up to the question it wouldn’t have even been weird.
I had been dating a woman for a short while, and we had had sex maybe three times. While rolling around the bed one evening, she suddenly told me that she had read about something called “fisting”, and wanted me to do that to her.
My philosophy on sex has always been, “I’ll try anything that doesn’t hurt me”, so we gave it a try. It took a lot of lube and patients, but she enjoyed it so much I think my hearing was permanently damaged!
I was on welfare for a while and living hand-to-mouth. No extra money. I didn’t have cable, didn’t make long distance phone calls, didn’t go out, didn’t eat brand-name food, bought everything that I could secondhand… I had to use the local food bank, as well. I was flat-out broke. No two ways about it.
I had a friend who, along with her partner, had recently come into money. I think it was two-thousand dollars or so. Instead of paying off their long-overdue bills, they spent it on a trip.
They came to me afterwards, asking for a loan. (Not only would I never reward someone’s stupid decisions, but I had absolutely no money to give.)
It must be something about being on welfare that makes people want to ask you for money. I had two other friends ask me for loans (each about $200 a piece) during that same time. $200 is almost half of what I was getting from welfare per month.
I’ve never been asked for a loan before or since that time!
Not to mention, where I live, one of the rules of being on welfare is that if you are owed money and receive it, it is considered income and must be reported. Now, I like to follow the rules. You can lose your benefits if you are catch lying about that sort of thing. So, if I had loaned them money, I would have had to report it as income when they returned it, and my welfare cheque would have been docked that money.
Not only did this couple know I was living waaay below the poverty line on welfare, but that I would be required to report the pay back as income and I would have lost money because of it.
