Did anyone watch it Tuesday night? She used to be such a good interview with Tom Snyder on the Late Late Show that I was very glad when she got her own show, but I didn’t/couldn’t like it a bit, no matter how much I wanted to. I don’t know why, but the only character I like at all is her husband. They’re probably very nice people, but I can’t **stand ** the acting. Are they over-acting?
The show is almost all improvisational, so you have to like that sort of thing.
It’s a mixed bag at times, but it’s better than her earlier shows.
I do like improv, as a rule. That’s why I can’t figure out what bugs me about this one, and wonder if anyone else is turned off by it. One time, somewhere, I saw a bit of her interviewing kids, and it was great.
Whose Line Is It Anyway is improvisational, and much better than Bonnie Hunt’s show, IMO.
I had no idea that the show was improvised. I just assumed it was one of those poorly-written shows that catches everyone’s eye.
I might have to watch it again.
I think the “show within a show” stuff with the guest stars is improvised – the rest of it isn’t.
I think originally the “Good Morning, Chicago” bits were improvised and the rest was scripted, but after a few episodes they realized that the energy died in the scripted segments so they improvise it all now. (It’s amazing how well those kids can keep up, and it’s clear that they’re ad libbing at least some of their stuff because Hunt and Derwin – the husband – get caught off guard.)
The show got consistently better throughout the run and the last few episodes were tremendously funny. The show’s been renewed and I think they’ve got their rhythm down now so I’m looking forward to the future episodes.

Am I the only one who thinks Bonnie Hunt is really hot?
But then, I think Lois Griffin is really hot.
(Though neither are even in Mrs. RickJay’s zip code.)
I catch it occasionally. I laugh the entire time.
Lots of inside jokes. Lots of running gags from episode to episode (like when Bonnie is almost finished with a song before the pianist finds her key).
The funniest was the Christmas special with the Nativity scene. I laughed for hours just thinking about it. I wish I taped it.
This week’s was great - with Jonathan Winters.
I agree with you. MizQuirk. I used to love Bonnie Hunt. But that show of hers really sucks. I don’t know what’s wrong with it, but it doesn’t have any of the charm she showed with Snyder or Letterman.
No, I’ve always thought so. And I think she lost a bunch of weight over the course of the show – she normally wears those overcoat-type-things but in the last two or three episodes they had her dressed in tight t-shirts and (for a skit) a skin-tight bodysuit.
