No tornadoes here, but weather certainly happened. Glad y’all are okay, spidey!
Did TorT early-ish to try to beat the weather. Managed about 45 minutes before the bottom fell out. The girls were slightly mollified when the last house we stopped at had full-sized Snickers and Twix. (Lily was Catwoman, Michelle was an angel. For the book character parade earlier at school, M was Charlotte, of Web fame - felt capelet with a web pattern painted on, along with “Some Pig.” Glued on some spiders. Added a few small spider hair clips, and made her hair bun look like a spider with some netting, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners. Managed to see the book parade after teacher conference with Lily’s teacher, so that was nice.)
I also learned a bit: admired the landscaping in one gentleman’s yard, and he told me that his azaleas are a (newish?) hybrid called Encore. They bloom three times a year. Pretty, but a little weird to see azaleas blooming at Halloween. (I also twisted my ankle in the same yard, but that was my own fault. I didn’t see the footpath, and stepped in a hole in the grass.)
Today was the last day for Red Ribbon Week at the school, and the first coolish day of the season, so “Tacky Day” was pretty simple: dressed the girls in clashing patterns/colors, layered. Then went back to bed after the school bus came. I was tahred. And cold.
My hometown football team managed last night to upset their (ranked) greatest rival for a second year in a row. So that was pretty nice. It was my boy’s 22nd birthday - and his last one at the university before he finishes his degree in May, so he was stoked. I haven’t heard from him since the end of the third quarter, but I suspect a hangover and won’t bother him. (He got his birthday/Christmas gift last month anyway. New shoes for the car. I’m the least sentimental gift-giver ever. Ask me about his graduation gift, which he has also received…)
And Girl 2.0 seems to think that every day is “Transfer $ to your daughter’s checking account Day.” She’s changing jobs, and lost her debit card, and high maintenance. I had to tell her that today’s small infusion is gonna have to last until Christmas money time. The grannies and aunties have more money than I do!
Meanwhile, time to spiff the cave and make another pot of coffee. And decide what’s for dinner tonight. Any recommendations?
Rosie’s sig to all!
