Boo!

Lot’s of holidays for the holiday mods to choose from, so I propose a small addition to my idea: One thread that remains open and stickied through the holiday changes for people to petition and give ideas for upcoming holidays to celebrate in the forum, but with the stipulation that the mods still get final say.

FTFY :stuck_out_tongue:

Umm, when is National Punctuation Day?

I refuse to even consider Christmas until after my birthday, which is Nov 24th.

So There.

Nov 24: World Saje Day.

I like Czarcasm’s idea, and second it.

But like Groundhog Day, it could come back again and again, slightly different each month.

This is a sensible rule. I don’t want to even think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I certainly don’t want to see Xmas stuff in stores before Halloween.

I’m willing to make exceptions for things which must be prepared far in advance, like craft stuff. But otherwise, I don’t want to deal with holiday creep.

Panama has five different Independence Days or related patriotic holidays in November.

November 3: Separation from Colombia (1903)
November 4: Flag Day (1903)
November 5: Commemoration of failure of Colombian troops to retake the country (1903)
November 10: First uprising against Spain in the town of La Villa (1821)
November 22: Independence from Spain (1821)

Then there’s Mother’s Day on December 8, Christmas, New Year’s, and finally Martyr’s Day on January 8. No one gets anything done here from early November until mid January.

So, the question arises of what tlo call the forum. Holy, Holy, Holy? Nah, too Christmas-y. Holy Days? Nah, too nebulous. Got it! Holi-crap!

Celebrate This!

I like that.

I am so looking forward to Celebrate This!-National Meatloaf Day.

Winner winner holiday dinner

I invented a holiday when I was little. It’s called Abner Doubleday Day. It’s celebrated on the first Sunday after the first Thursday of April. Prepare your Abner Doubleday topics now so you’re ready for the forum change in the spring! You don’t want to get caught off guard!

What a country!

To paraphrase Minsc: Go for the eyes Boo, go for the eyes!!

There’s been one post today, in the wee hours of the morning.

I think we should get behind this idea of special forums for special days held in only a handful of countries. November 25th is Suriname Independence Day, for example. All you have to do is get a couple dozen posters to agree to post a relentless series of inane joke posts and get a moderator or two on board with the idea. After all, a precedent has been set!

Then we can all change our names for a couple of weeks and leave the board all cluttered with stupidity for weeks. I want to be called “Tom Cruise’s daughter’s name is Suri

Yeah! Or at the very least, for special days held in the country where this message board is based and a critical mass of its members reside.

Premature labor.

Sure, I’m with that! Let’s do one for Super Bowl Sunday! We can call the forum “The Greatest Day of Football Ever in the World!” I’ll call myself Lamar Hunt! We can leave it up until a week after the World Cup final!
