Ah, Thursday. How I’ve missed you. Game’s not up yet but it’s early.
WooHoo! Number 2!
I should skip out for the next couple of weeks, probably the best thing I could do to help my rating.
Nah…
No, the best thing you can do to help your rating is to get friendly with one of the Allans.
Allen says it’ll be up in the next two hours.
I’m hoping I’ll be home in time to play tonight. I missed my weekly game last night, so I’m itching to play.

Wow. A win moves GO 7 points and 4 places? The algorithm must put a high premium on winning.
And Max retains third by not playing? I’m thinking of a new strategy for winning the quarter…
Yeah, I moved 5 places and 8 points last week.
P.S. See post 202
By the way, whoever has it - could you post/link/email me the speadsheet for this quarter?
Oslo, I’ll mail you the spreadsheet when I get home. The formula basically averages your position each week. So the fewer weeks you have played the more weight each week’s performance has. And if you don’t play your score doesn’t change.
I’d like to thank Yeti for keeping me out of the cellar.
One of these days I’ll make it home in time to play again. I miss it.
This being another cold, wet, early spring weekend, I spent a little time checking out tournament games on a few sites. OK, a lot of time.
PokerStars - I notched another win at a 5T SnG, along with a couple of finishes out of the money. Still my favorite tourney, and, at 45 players, not too time-consuming.
Hollywood freeroll - a winnable game, although I choked out of the money after making it to the final table once. A time burden (3+ hours) with 800+ players. Still, pretty soft, and worthy of a look-see. Several per day. (This site is an affiliate of the Tuesday night Doper game.)
PokerTropolis $.99 - A finish in the money. My fellow Dopers should do well here - up until the final two tables, the game is dominated by loose, passive play. Call, check. Call, check. Very few significant raises. At around 100 players, not as big of a time burden. I’ll be playing again as time allows.
Of course, none really compare(s?) with the Thursday night madness we all love…
congrats on the cashing and the win Oslo!
Thanks. You got a favorite tourney (other than the SDMB, of course)?
Nah. Funding an account has been a perpetual pain in the ass for me, so I don’t play online much except for our game. Oh, and that I suck might have something to do with it too.
A few of my buddies run a decently expensive tournament ($60) every Wed. locally and I’ll play in that every few months. But I don’t have the cash to play more than that. Oddly, I think I’m a much better “in person” player than online player. I think I’ve perfected the look of being perpetually bored.
I hear ya. That’s why I looked into freeroll tourneys at Hollywood - win one and you have cash on deposit to play the games.
I’m probably much worse in person. One, I haven’t played live in years. Two, I’m probably lousy with tells.
Owwwww! Quiiiiiiit Iiiiiiiiit!
Mom, Capn’s rubbing my face in shit again!
I have not been playing in many tournaments at all lately. I have been playing on the 0.05/0.10 no-limit ring games at bodog. I like them because I can play them whenever I want for as long as I want, there’s plenty of good action with the low buy-ins, and I am doing pretty well, having turned $10 at around christmas time into $300.
Now, let’s not over-react (I’ve been typing hyphenated words like a mofo today). I was simply commending you on your marvelous, Yeticulus, chivalric attitude and behavior. It’s a testament to your upstanding moral fiber that you’re bad a poker. Unfortunately, being next to last shows me as having no moral fiber and being bad a poker.
