Be very careful over the next few weeks – grief may suddenly rise up and overwhelm you at very inconvenient times. A while after my dad died, I was overwhelmed and started bawling my eyes out, in the middle of traffic on the Dan Ryan Expressway. I was just able to pull over an stop on the shoulder and kept crying for 10 or 15 more minutes.
