Last night 2/7/10, my Dad was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery.
Abdominal aneurism.
Surgery was successful.
Dad in ICU.
But the next few days will tell if he makes it.

This happened to a friend’s dad, and he was quite a while getting over it. Apparently it is pretty tough on a person. Friend’s dad is, though, now recovered, and has his normal life back. I hope yours does well with it, too.

Sending out good thoughts. My old boss had the same surgery a few years back - he recovered fully.
No word, but I think they’d call if he died.

I saw him for a few minutes, he was sedated, & could not speak.
He may have lucked out in a bad sit.

No change, except that he was semi-conscious when I was there.
Conflicting messages were given me & my sister on how much BP medication he has been given.

I don’t have much to say but maybe this:
When my mother was in a similar situation, I tried to keep her from being bored as much as she was consious. I didn’t spin pltes on sticks or anything, but I tried my best to keep her motivated to get better to get out. I don’t know if that might help your dad or if he even needs that, but it helped my mom pull out of the ICU with congestive heart failure + leaky circulatory system mumbojumbomedicalmystery stuff.
