Boston Dopefest NOW, before Autolycus moves away

Link to Bartley’s

I’ll call them when they open at 11 to see if they take reservations, but Ikind of doubt that they do. Shell we have a Plan B just in case they don’t?

Awesome. I’ll be heading over to Harvard right after work and I’ll meet you guys outside of Bartley’s at 7.

This gives me some time to do some window shopping in the square…

There’s no way any of the CalMeacham clan could make it, I’m afraid. Important appointments intervene. But our best to all of you.

No can do.
:frowning:

Mousey and I should be able to come, assuming I don’t have to work a 16 hour day like the last time we had one of these.

Heading out now. Wheeeeee~!

That was awesome!

I think it was the biggest Boston Dopefest yet, even though half of the party weren’t Dopers. It was a bit awkward moving the whole group from Plan A to Plan D, trying to find enough seating for everyone to sit together. Even then, I got stuck at the kiddie table (I didn’t mind one bit), but I was able to circulate amongst the grownups for a bit.

I had a really great time.

What was Plan D??

Inquiring minds want to know.

See, you should have come.

Plan D was Indian food. It was decided, by general consensus, that going to Bartley’s and asking for a table for 16 was unlikely to yield results. I’m still in the mood for a burger and a frappe, though; if anyone would like to meet there someday soon, I’d be up for it.

It was nice to see everyone.

I picked up a Brattle scedule on my way back to the T. Damn, it’s a good lineup, but we’ve missed most of it already.

The whole group started meeting in front of Bartley’s. As Robot Arm pointed out, that was too difficult. We then headed out to Charlie’s Kitchen, but it was also too crowded. My girlfriend then pointed out that there was an Indian place a few doors down. That ended up working out great.

It was a very fun Dopefest. The Indian food was great, and I very much enjoyed the 3 Taj Mahal beers. It was fun meeting tdn’s girlfriend for the first time, along with the wonderful Elysium. Fun fun fun. If you want more description of what happened, then tough nuggies. You should come next time!

Well, technically, it sounds as though the Indian place was Plan C. Plan D should have been to swing by Park Plaza and kidnap me, although I suppose I had left by then.

tdn’s girlfriend was there, too? Maaaaaan.

Robot Arm, if you set up a burger and frappe plan, I’ll try my best, I promise.

Well, Plan B was the Chinese place. I’m not sure why we didn’t go there. Plan E was IHOP. Park Plaza would have been Plan F.

My girlfriend was there, along with her kids. GF had a great time, kids not so much. They wanted alone time with mommy. Instead, they got dragged around through various plans with a group of strangers. It was not terribly conducive to getting homework done. The son apologizes for being a wet blanket. The daughter is thrilled that her mom is dating such a snappy dresser who holds her mom’s hand all the time.

lorene and Robot Arm, let’s go out for burgers. I’m sure that they can seat a party of three.

Being from Beijing, the GF hates 99% of Chinese food in America.

i used to belong to a (now defunct) club that used to meet in Boston’s Chinatown. The wife of one member was Chinese herself, and used to order, in Chinese, stuff that wasn’t on the menu. We got real Chinese dishes. Maybe your GF could try the same thing?

I rate lower than IHOP? Harsh, man. Really harsh.

I brought my daughter on an ice-skating Dopefest once. It was not a success. She was really too young to appreciate it, and too weepy to make a good impression on the others.

We were on a limited budget. Park Plaza sounds like the second most expensive place in town.

Tuesdays are usually good for me.

HawkeyeOP and I would also like to try Bartley’s… They looked to have great burgers.

I’d just like to send a great big thank you to tdn and his great girlfriend for their patience with me as a newbie to dealing with Indian food.

You know we love you, but come on! We’re talking about IHOP here. Can you honestly claim that you serve 700 million pancakes per year? How can you possibly hold a candle to that?!?

You’re right. I don’t even cook anything with as catchy a name as Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity.

Damn straight!
