Specifically, for a Valentine’s Day gift.
I’m in Seattle. My girlfriend is in Boston (or, rather, Somerville, to be specific). As such, I have very little practical knowledge about the area: just the small amount I’ve learned on a few brief visits, which does not include any sojourns to area spas.
I want to get her a gift certificate for spa services (massage, certainly; pedicure, probably; skin care, perhaps; etc), but I need opinions on good, avoid, overrated (and/or overpriced), and the like.
So, talk to me. What are some good options?
Do you know that in Boston, a “Spa” means essentially a Convenience Store? Confused the heck outta me when I moved back here. You’d see signs for “Ridgeway Spa” in the middle of an economically depressed area that didn’t look as if it could support any sort of salon.
I think this use of the word is fading out.
There are several spas (of the sort everyone knows about) in the area, but I haven’t any idea which are good and which aren’t. I actually won a certificate for one. I gave it to Pepper Mill, who hasn’t used it yet, so we don’t know if that one’s any good, either.
I really enjoy the Pyara in Harvard Square. Easy to get to from Somerville and they have very good prices on services. They do some good work.
Check here: http://www.pyaraaveda.com/ for pricing, etc.
But that’s my favorite place to go.
Looks great. Online gift package purchasing and everything!
Thanks!
