Boston Legal 12/5

It’s the Christmas episode, which means wild and wacky stuff, lots of mistletoe and stolen kisses, plus Bethany the Badger.

Another good episode.

I like that Alan stepped in to save Denny’s ass (and the client’s daughter), but where is this going? I get a hint that Denny appreciated what Alan did, but Denny’s ego can’t handle too much of that.

Nice to see Clarence/Clarice back.

Where did they find that anorexic actress? Her lawyer looked like she’d win second prize in an Ann Coulter lookalike contest.

Time will tell whether the Prussian Blue twins will now be type cast for years.

Michael J Fox next week – when was his last television performance?

The episode that we saw previewed was a rerun. Remember that around Halloween, Michael J. Fox’s character died in the black market organ exchange and the ladies went on a search for his head (it was in a haunted house).

The promo said that the Xmas episode was the last of this year, so any further eps are re-runs.

I wondered about that too. Maybe they just hung around some rehab places and caught her as she was going in. “Can you hold off your treatment for a few days? We have a part for you.”

Where have we seen the actress who played her mother? I didn’t catch her name in the credits, but she’s very familiar.

The actress playing the girl’s mother is Kathleen Wilhoite. She played Susan’s annoying sister on ER, among other roles.

Best lines from Denny, of course…“Bleah!”
“She’s being…objectionable!”

Anorexic lawyer: You’ll see us in court.

Denny Crane: Not unless you turn sideways.

Zing! Hilarious.
I’m wondering…What did Bethany hope to accomplish by showing up at the party? She already knew that her mother and Denny were still hot for each other.

nitpick
The line was, “not if you turn sideways”.

As soon as Clarence/Clarice mentioned that he went to law school, I knew they were grooming the character to be a lawyer in the firm. Bet he gets a case within the next 2-3 episodes.

Felt bad for Bethany at the end, but after all, she did say she never wanted to see Denny again. I hope this works out, though. I’d much rather see Denny with her than Bella.

And it looks like Brad and Jeffrey may just be getting over their differences (albeit very slowly).

Now we gotta wait until January for new episodes? Damn!

Yeah, at first I felt a little sorry for Bethany, but then I realized, she hasn’t exactly been overly nice to Denny the whole time she’s known him.

Ugh, more “Isn’t Shirley a goddess?” crapola. So tired of the Candice Bergen worship, she’s great, yeah, we get it!!!

I really like the Clarence/Clarice character, but he sort of reminds me of Benny from L.A. Law. Hopefully we’ll see Clarence start to break out of his shell in upcoming episodes.

I was a little alarmed by the Lincoln Myer story arc, especially the weird episode where he hit Gracie Jane with a shovel. But the last 2 shows have restored my faith! This is the Boston Legal I love!

This is the first episode I’ve seen in a long time. Not half bad. I may start watching again. When Michael J. Fox is not on.

Alan’s closing was great. But the look the racist mother gave him when he sat down was even better.

Yep, these folks exist in a world of lawyers. We meet Shirley’s ex – and he’s a lawyer! Michael J. Fox’s character – just happens to be a lawyer. Can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a lawyer, and if you did, of course he’d sue you.

It occurred to me as I was watching the show that they probably didn’t have much trouble finding an emaciated young actress to play the anorexic girl. Sad, really. Is there really a group for “pro-anorexia” people who believe this disease is a perfectly valid lifestyle choice? (Country check: U.S. Okay, of course there is.)

It appears that it’s more for people who acknowledge that it’s a problem, but can’t (or won’t) do anything to remedy it, rather than the glorification of the disease the lawyer character made it out to be.

And, as admirable as Alan’s intentions were, did anybody else have a problem with his threatening to have the girl arrested to force a reconciliation between her and her mother? To me, it seemed a very un-Alan thing to do. More along the lines of Brad, IMHO.

Oh, excuse me, this is the thread for this episode of Boston Legal.

I had given up on the show despite the addition of Constance Zimmer, but somehow ended up watching it this week.

I decided that if Alan won this case, I would call for BL’s cancellation. Who wants to join my letter-writing campaign?

Really? I took heart that the dad looked uncomfortable in court. I think Alan planted a seed.

Don’t mean to turn this into a political discussion, but, IMHO, Alan’s close was spot on. As much as I hated what those parents were teaching their children, they have as much right to their opinions as anyone. We can’t just start taking children from their parents because we don’t agree with their views. I mean, suppose it was a few years ago, when most people thought the Iraq war was a pretty good idea, and a conservative relative wanted to take an anti-war couple’s children because their teachings were “giving aid and comfort to the enemy”?
Besides, Alan made his point with the “gay Mexican Jew” comment.

Heh. You don’t know him very well, do you  That was vintage Alan Shore, right there. Blackmail and extortion are where he lives. He is the main character, and he is funny, and he is charasmatic as anything, but Alan Shore is NOT nice.

As I said in that other thread I would have been pissed if he lost the case. There was no legal basis for taking the kids from the parents. Just an excuse to make a Prussian Blue tie in since it was in the news when they were filming.

There are hundreds of such websites you just picked one. Some of them absolutely glorify the disease and give tips on how to live the “lifestyle”.
