Supposedly this is a new one…Alan and Denny celebrate being accepted into the Coast Guard; a town wishes to secede from the U.S.
I only caught the last half hour. After a couple weeks of watching CSI and L&O and other network crap (the dish has been messing up), I finally realized how good Boston Legal really is. They might get silly, and there’s still a bit too much Shirley lust, but damn, those characters are real to me. That’s some damn fine writing, Denny and Alan’s friendship.
Is this it for the show? The ending made me wonder.
It’s been picked up for one more season. After that, who knows?
This was much better than many of the recent BL eps I’d seen because they essentially stuck to one case, allowing the dynamics and arguments to progress at a more leisurely pace. Too often, they’re juggling multiple cases/issues (all of which need resolving in 42 minutes), so everything feels rushed and oversimplified.
I’m sure they shot those last couple of minutes the way they did because they weren’t sure if they were getting renewed–and in case they weren’t, it would’ve been a fine end to the show.
That makes sense to me. It is, however, coming back for one more season as noted above.
Kind of a sad moment when Jerry blurted out that Denny is dying of ALZ.
I realize he looks healthy now, but it is a progressive disease and affects the body as well as the mind.
I especially liked how Denny completely owned the secession case (to everyone’s surprise).
“Don’t you ever get tired of going on and on and on…?”
