Boys' basketball players walk off court in support of cheerleader with Down's syndrome.

There’s a lot of bad stuff in today’s news. I appreciated seeing this positive story.

Great bunch of kids. I bet their parents are quite proud of them for stepping up and supporting their friend.

Maybe there’s hope for our species yet…

Well, the team didn’t kick the shit out of the worthless fucks, but, I guess it’s a start.

I wonder sometimes in which direction humanity is headed. I made the mistake of reading the article and watching the video of the girl beaten at McDonalds. Pretty barbaric. Nobody tried to stop it. Nobody calls 911. They film it like an event at the Roman Colosseum 2000 years ago.

There are a lot of good kids out there. The kids on that basketball team are awesome for handling that situation responsibly.

We have a four-year-old, and as his peer group slowly expands (pre-school, play dates, kids met in the park…), we are finding out that there really are “nice kids,” and “jerky kids.”

All my life, I’ve advocated seeing the good and bad in each of us, but lately I’ve seen the practical benefits of a little oversimplifying. Life’s too short to waste much of one’s time with jerks.

Ahhhh - for more news stories like that.

Well done, boys. You are champions even if you never win another game.

For Piper Cub’s last birthday, we exercised parental veto on the guest list. Only nice kids made the cut, even tho the Cub argued strenuously for one of his friends who in our opinion didn’t meet the nice kid test.
