My gift to myself was The Power of Snow, a collection of the 4 most recent Warren Miller movies. Of course I have depressed myself with the knowledge that I will probably not get the chance to go skiing this winter.
Yeah! I get a kick out of the commentaries they have and the mistakes they point out in the eps.
We got a bunch of DVDs in the LBE! household, too:
Indiana Jones box set (widescreen, natch)
Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Series
Two Towers, 4-disc version
The Ben Stiller Show
Rock, Rock, Rock!
The pilot and first four episodes of Scooby Doo from 1969
A disc with a bunch of Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoons from the '50s
Oh, and the Joe 90 box set, too! I haven’t even opened it yet.
The Office, Season One.
Osbournes, Season Two.
Strangers with Candy, Season Two.
And chain me to a bedpost and cover me with butter, Season Three of Homicide!
I only got:
The Two Towers EE
The Simpsons Season 3
And I think my GF got me 24: Season 2. I haven’t gotten it yet, but before I left school for home, she said I could open it, but had to leave it there, implying she wanted to use it, and she has been hounding me to borrow them or buy them so we could finish watching it (we watched up to hout 5 or 6, right whe it got really good.) Nothing else I put on my list she would care about, so I’m pretty sure that’s what it is.
I got the Back to the Future trilogy and One Hour Photo.
Just before Christmas, I managed to unearth a copy of Black and White in Color. Best find in a long time.
Firefly is on it’s way as we speak.
Indiana Jones Box Set
Adventures of Robin Hood
X-men 2
My girlfriend got me Sea Biscuit but it was fullscreen! The horror! We’ll be exchanging that for the widescreen version.
I bought Firefly for myself. I want to see the episodes I haven’t, but am watching them in the the order they are on the DVDs.
Brian
Much Ado About Nothing
Two Towers: EE (okay, we bought this one before Christmas)
The Red Curtain Trilogy (Moullin Rouge, Strictly Ballroom, and Romeo & Juliet)
Nowhere in Africa
Freeway
Once Upon a Time in the West
Tombstone
White Christmas
and about 4 German movies (hubby speaks German and collects German DVDs and books)
I still have money left from my grandparents, but I’ll probably get either books or clothes, although I’m kinda thinking I need The Princess Bride, since my copy is stolen from my sister. <G>
I also got a gorgeous copy of The Complete Works of Lewis Carroll among other books, but that’s a different thread.
Looks like Lucas and Spielberg have done well with this Indiana Jones’ box set. It’s come up quite a few times already.
I was a bit down-heartened that they (inc. Harrison Ford) didn’t do any commentaries. Would have been very interesting! Although they cover most of what’s normally covered in the commentaries in the featrurettes so I suppose its okay!
But overall, A SUPERB box set!!! (I like the box as well :D).
So has Two Towers :EE looking back on what we have so far!
Ordered mine online (www.dvd.co.uk) for half price and it is in the post to me as I type this. I have The Fellowship: EE which is great!!! (apart from the fact it is split onto two discs) so am eagerly anticipating this one!!!
Not much here so far…
Bily Connolly Bites Yer Bum
The Goodies … At Last (absolutely brilliant - a must-buy for anyone who has ever laughed. Watch “Gender Education” first.)
Near Dark
Taxi
And I’m saving up for Alien Quadrilogy.
If you wait long enough, it’ll be a septology (?), what with the Aliens versus Predator schlock coming out in the theater this year. Unless, of course, you don’t consider that to be canon.
Goody goody yum yum … I’ll have to snag that one.
I got:
Pink Floyd’s The Wall
Taxi Driver
The Beatles episodes of the Ed Sullivan Show
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
By the way, I started sort of a parallel thread about CDs over here: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=232049
Christmas with Gumby and Gumby’s Greatest Adventures .
Anyone want to trade?
Simpson’s, season 3
Waking Life
Mallrats, special edition
Lessee…
Indiana Jones boxed set
Buffy seasons 3-5
The Two Towers Extended Edition
Finding Nemo
Pirates of the Carribean
And my big holiday disappointment:
Firefly (not disappointing for the shows, but because my set has two disc threes and no disc four, so it has to be sent back to Amazon and I have to wait weeks to watch it).
