Braggin' on BostonDope

So, I got together tonight with ** Davebear, Beteoir, Pammipoo, RobotArm and StephenBUA **. We went to Boston Billiards, where I showed them all up with my mad pool skillz (hey, if I’m the first to post, I can take certain liberties, right?), then sat around and chatted and basically proved the point that Boston Dopers are the wittiest and most charming of all.
Yes, I had to go home early to make sure that Baby was still where I had velcroed her to the wall (JOKE, for OG’s sake!), but I’m sure if they talked about me while I was gone, it was all good.
All in all, a success, I would say.

Glad you all had fun!

I think I really botched Stephen’s screen name, though. Ah well, you know who you are!

Wish I could have made it. Glad you found each other. Hmm, that doesn’t sound quite right, but you know what I mean, I’m sure.

He’s StephenG, btw  The Boa or whatever plays into his email address, but not his doper identity.

I had a lot of fun, I’m glad we all made it out. Despite the fact that over the course of at least 15 games, I only sank maybe 4 balls, I still enjoyed myself. If I’m going to suck, at least suck in good company!!

Everyone was pretty much exactly what I pictured them as, except maybe Dave. When he said bald, I was thinking middleaged balding man, so it was a pleasant surprise

It was really cool to meet Steve especially, since we’ve been talking about meeting up for some ubsurd amount of time, 3 years or something. I was beginning to think he really lived in France or something and was just yanking my chain

The only gripe I had about the evening was that while we were walking back to the green line, I didn’t see the huge puddle just inside Kenmore, and stepped in up to my ankles. I spent the rest of my commute home in slippery flip flops and wet jeans. Eww. I survived though, and eventually, my ankles dried.

And, I made it to bed before 3 am. It was a good night. We’ll definitely have to do it again.

Always a wise policy, IMO.

Umm…but, I am a bald, middleaged man. What was the surprise? That I didn’t have a combover? shudder

I’d already met Robot Arm and betenoir, so there were no surprises there. Well, except that Robot Arm and I hit the parking lot at the same time. That was handy. StephenG was younger than I’d expected, but a nice guy. Lorene was prettier (and less babyfood-covered) than I expected. Pammipoo was pretty much as I expected, except a little quieter.

So, yes, it was fun. And, we should definitely do it again. For those who still haven’t signed up for the Yahoo group, A) do so, and B) we’re talking about having another one in August. Possibly the 23rd, though that’s still up in the air.

Why, thank you! Um, I think. I mean, I’d rather be prettier than expected as opposed to less pretty than expected, right? Although I have to wonder if I’ve posted things which would lead to conclusions about my relative prettiness, or what.

Ya know what? Not important. Thanks for the compliment.

<shuffles back, murmuring and blushing>

I’m still laughing about lorene’s blend of my Yahoo! ID and SDMB ID. The group can be found here: http:/groups.yahoo.com/group/bostondopers – pretty straightfoward.

It was wonderful to meet everybody, and see RobotArm again. Most people were about as I expected, although erislover was more absent than I remember.

Dave, my thanks, I think, for the compliment.

My apologies to all, I think, for not being better at pool… I’ll try to practice before we meet again! The end of August is looking good…

So how was the club? Did it end up being crowded? Easy/Hard to find?

I gotta practice my compliments. They seem to be pretty unrecognizable.

Steve, I just meant I thought you were older, from your group posts. Nothing wrong with being young that time won’t cure.

Lorene, you’re a babe, and I wasn’t expecting that.

How’s that? Oh, and no more apologizing for skill, or lack thereof, at pool. We said it was, and I think this is a direct quote, “welcome, but not required”. We all had fun, and that’s what it was about.

You sure showed me up; next time you have to teach me how you do that. And I agree with Davebear on this one, you’re definitely a babe (whether anybody expected it or not).

It was a pleasure to meet everybody; some for the first time, some not, but hopefully not the last.

More furious blushing…and BIG smiles. Y’all are great for a girl’s ego.

No apologies intended for my pool skills. I really did have a blast. Don’t worry, Robot Arm, you’ll catch up someday.

Sorry, didn’t mean to ignore.
Not crowded when we first arrived (7pm), picking up a bit later, but I left early so others can tell you what it was like much later.
I thought it was easy to find, myself, and there was plenty of free parking, as the RedSox had the night off.

Heh, sorry. I’d been up since 6 am, and running off caffeine. I wasn’t the most talkative of company, but singing along to the music at least kept me awake

And yeah, I was picturing a combover. It wasn’t pretty.

I didn’t even see Salem’s post, since we simulposted. It was a full house by about 10 pm, but it wasn’t an issue. I never felt crowded. That’s a good point about the parking, though. I just checked the Sox schedule, and they’re home on August 23rd (the proposed date for the next Fest). The only gap in their schedule around then is Thursday, the 28th. So, we’ll need to rethink either the date or the venue.

Not all bald guys are delusional. :stuck_out_tongue:

And no one took pictures? Yer slippin’…

Possibly, some psychic leakage carried over from my warning to the previous group about my reaction to people attempting to take my picture. If you think oil and water don’t mix, you should try cameras and brick walls. They REALLY don’t mix! No matter how hard you throw the camera.
