Branston Pickle is bloody delish!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm MMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm

How on earth did I ever miss this food of the gods of sandwich spreads before?

Looking at Wikipedia, I need to try it. The Cheddar over here lacks quite a lot.

FTR, I honeymooned in Monroe, Wisconsin, where the local delight is an 1-1/2 inch slab of Limberger on rye with onions. My opinion should be taken with a grain or two of stank, especially since I mourn the extinction of Liederkranz.

I just tried the chunky version (looked at Wikipedia before posting) two weekends ago, and I have to agree.

It actually surprised me quite a bit, because I tend to be willing to try anything, but don’t tend to like much of what I try. My boyfriend ordered it because he’d never tried it, but he’d heard it’s one of those things that most people hate, but a few people like. I figured I had to try it, since it was there, but I didn’t expect to like it.

Man, that stuff was good.

The stuff with the smaller chunks doesn’t seem to work, for me. It tastes burnt or something.

My favourite café when I was living in Thailand imported cheddar and Branston pickle. I nearly wept when it changed hands and they discontinued it.

I have it in my sandwiches most days and as well as cheese it compliments cooked meat, such as ham, as well.

I also love it with fish and chips.

He might be thinking of Marmite, maybe. I don’t think many people hate Branston, it’s just a few crazy people who don’t like it much.

Maybe he was, SciFiSam, but I think he’s tried both Marmite and Vegemite. I don’t know if he liked them, but I think he’s tried them.

Who knows? I thought it was delicious!

The boyfriend is a big Branston Pickle fan (he ends up with all sorts of odd savories, his family sends it over from the UK). I cannot stand the stuff, except in extremely tiny amounts. Give me mustard any day.
