Breakfast in the MMP

Since I was productive yesterday I am vegging today. Just kicking back until noonish and then a long 2-3 hour ride to work via Someplace-or-other.

I thought that was the description of the one you were responding to. :o

Swampy, it’s curtains for you.

Lunch time!! I stopped at WaWa on my way in today and grabbed a chef salad for lunch. Muy yum!

Howdy Y’all! I’ve been grocery shoppin’ and have a pot roast goin’ in the slow cooker. In a while I’ll add in some N.O.T. and carrots. Field peas with snaps and squish shall be sides along with corn bread. 'Twill be a nummy dindin.

Spidey that may be aesthetically pleasin’ but tp curtains would be impractical as tp tends to shred easily. Curtains, although nice if they are aesthetically pleasin’, should always be practical.

Shortly I shall commence some quality cee-mint pond time. 'Tis quite warm out.

What do you do with your curtains that you worry about them shredding??? I know you don’t have a cat…

Happy Hump Day!

It’s a beautiful day today. I have the windows open. It’s supposed to get up into the 90s.

I overslept again today and am running behind on everything.

Nothing much planned for the day though.

**FCM **- I am really surprised at what the rescues want. I did see for a 2fer deal, only $700 for a pug and weiner dog that have to go together.
And as Doggio said, they want to put you through more of a background check than you would go through with a child.
Now that I think about it, I remember a few of my clients from my pet sitting days who went through rescues and most up them ended up frustrated and said screw it.
One got turned down and it was for some ridiculous reason that I can’t remember. Those are the clients that when I die I want to come back as one of their dogs. They spoil and pamper their dogs, and have really put a lot of work into dogs nobody else would want - and they got turned down.

So one day maybe we’ll go to the shelter and get one. What is weird for me though, other than my mastiff, I never intentionally went looking for a dog. I’ve always had strays, or the puppies of strays my friends found, or dogs people dumped in my yard with notes attached to their collars, or they just showed up and stayed, or somebody had a dog they couldn’t keep.
Kind of weird to actually look for a dog, and even more weird to pay for one.

Then again, Adam is the first time I ever went looking for a cat. All my other cats were strays except for Stormy, who was the only surviving kitten of a stray my friend found.

I like that thought.

**sari **- we contacted a Siamese cat rescue group once, and I swear, I had an easier time getting a mortgage!!! We ended up saying SCREW IT! Which is why I was surprised the day I got Ziva - I filled out some paperwork, gave them a check, and went home with her. I suspect short of saying “Cat - it’s what’s for dinner” they were going to rehome her with me regardless.

I can understand some caution, but dang, some groups are whacko!!!

I am in from the cee-mint pond. I’ve had enough sun for the day. So I shall now chill and get dindin ready at some point. OYKW is just about to Monkey Town aka Montgomery, Alabammy, so he’s a ways from here yet.

I got an interview tomorrow with a temp agency! And right after that I finished a retold fairy tale! Woo and Hoo!

Yes, they are.

I am also finding out there are some scammers out there selling puppies. I called one and left a message, then got a text asking me what kind of puppy I was interested in. wth? Then I got an email that sounds suspicious, the English is poor and it sounds like a scam. Plus anybody who tells me that an 8 week old puppy comes ‘tamed’ and house broken is full of it. I know shar peis are very clean dogs and house break easily, Mackie was trained very quickly, but I would never have said he was house broken at a young age.
I was suspicious of another breeder and with more research I found out it is a puppy mill that has been shut down a few times.
I found a shar-pei near here, but it is an adult and can’t be with cats.

OYKW is home! YAY! We have supped. I have cleanded the kitchen. He’s just about finished unpackin’ and plans on a soak in the tub. He says his bones are weary, poor thing. The next three days will be devoted to cee-mint pond time and general sloth on both our parts. Sounds like a great plan to me!

We let Salsa’s feed us. The house is closed and the a/c is on. Tomorrow is my Firday. YAY!

Welcome home to OYKW!

I found a cute puppy, but it is $1600 + $50 For a chip + $500 for shipping. A bit outside my doggie budget. They sent me a cute video of the litter playing, it would be nice but not sensible.

The sensible thing to do would be to go to the shelter and get the nice little shih tzu, or the shih tzu poodle mix.

sari, keep an eye on the shelters. When they begin to get more critters than they can handle, they tend to run an adoption special. The bonus is that there’s a bigger selection.

Yay for the girls metal mouse!

BooFae, my mom tended to be the same way with whatever state any of us kids lived in. If something happened in our state that made the national news, we got a call. :stuck_out_tongue:

Moooom, IME, attempting to schedule with the dealership online is an effort in futility. I’ve had decent luck with both the Chevy and Toyota dealerships on the phone, but their websites are a mess for service purposes.

big kitty, that Waffle House is one that a former cow-orker managed for a while. It’s par for the course in Cookeville. :stuck_out_tongue:

It was another bizzy, bizzy day today and the cow-orker who actually does something was out. The two of us are covering the duties of three people until the coordinator position is backfilled and trained. Today, our former coordinator came back for half a day to help out, but I took care of the rest.

On the home front, the printer ran out of ink while I was trying to print address labels. I tried a tip for resetting it from Pinterest, but it did nothing. A trip to Staples or Office Max is in order this weekend, depending on which one sent me a coupon this month.

BigKitty appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the interview.

OYKW has been officially welcomed home. All is good.

I went to the shelter today, just looking, don’t you know. I really want another dachshund/ or at least a dachshund mix, but I’m going to try not to let that stand in the way of any other small breed or mix. One thing, I would prefer a smooth or sort coat dog. Nathan had longish hair, but it didn’t grow. He just had to be combed every so often, it stayed the same length.

I didn’t meet “the one” but when I lost my first dog it took three visits to the shelter until I met Nathan, and we clicked

My mom will be eighty five this Saturday and the immediate family will have a small party. I’m bring the cake, chocolate of course, and my middle sister will bring home made ice cream, the traditional family recipe. It’s really nummy, especially if Mexican vanilla is used.

Sigh and mega blurf. My lead is leaving as is my teen in August. The teen going to college and the lead said her kids need her. I need her too but what you gonna do. I am going to do it, thats what and I have no problem with that. My turnover is not bad. Nature of business.

Good luck Big KittyWelcome home OYKW.

We’re back from Cally-Forny. Granddaughter’s graduation went well. University prez was a little long-winded, but not terribly so. Thousand Oaks is an interesting place full of interesting ways to spend money. Son-in-law’s Mother and one of his sisters came with and we all went out for Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday. It was fun.

We drove home up the coast on Hwy 101 for a little scenery. Drove out to Mendocino but it was so wet and rainy we couldn’t hardly see anything. We also drove on the Avenue of the Giants to look at the redwoods. We’d seen them before of course, but they’re worth another look. Then we did some arithmetic and decided to head for home. Got here at ~2:00am this morning. Slept for a bit and then went and got the pups out of jail.

Then Wifey went to the office and I went shopping to replenish supplies. We’ll have a simple dinner tonight of petite sirloins and a veggie side. Maybe a baked N.O.T., or something else. Wifey kept saying on the way home “We gotta go back on our diets!”
So now I’m back to guessing what fits into our ‘diet’.

I concur with everyone else saying go to the shelter(s) and rescue some poor pup. I can’t go into one of those places without finding at least one furbaby I want to take home, but I’m an extreme dog person. Don’t worry. It’ll happen eventually.

I got a feeling the Flightless Birds ain’t gonna win tonight so I expect to hear some woooops coming from the South.
