One poached egg on a wheat crumpet, one veggie sausage, and a half a grilled tomato…oh and low fat soya latte.
Grilled cheese sandwich & iced tea.
The weekends are free of calorie counting for me so I had blueberry pancakes. I put an over easy egg over the top of one of the cakes. That’s better with regular pancakes.
Still pretty good though.
Breakfast is generally a granola bar, but today it was a burrito supreme leftover from the night before.
1 whole grain waffle topped with a smear of organic PB and a sliced banana. And iced tea sweetened with agave nectar.
Homemade chicken soup with a couple of matzo balls, and a Sudafed. I can simultaneously Jewish-mother and WASP-mother my cold.
When I’m sick, I want nothing but chicken soup all day long. Not because of health benefits, but because it feels so good.
Okay, I did not know that existed. Now that I do, I’m getting it.
Damn, I forgot that I had an avocado in the fridge…
I fried 2 slices of lean ham in olive oil, cut in long strips. This is very close to being bacon*, but much healthier.
Then I sauted some diced scallions, mushrooms, asparagus and red bell pepper in the oil left in the pan from the ham.
Put those aside, fried 3 eggs (in olive oil) until done just right, then plopped them on top of the ham and veggies.
Yum.
But it would have been so much better with some avocado!!
*got nothing against bacon, but I try to limit myself to once a month or so. The ham really works well as a substitute, especially if you get it a little crispy.
Just had mine about an hour ago:
- a bowl of cereal (apple bran) with low-fat milk;
- two slices of toast with vegemite;
- some orange juice;
- a mandarine.
Orange juice, two chocolate chip waffles, two over easy eggs, and hashbrowns.
I also tried in a old chicken/rice casserole recipe that called for cream of chicken or mushroom soup - nice variation.
Strawberry Pop-Tarts and coffee. Breakfast of champions…
Every morning, I make
-miso soup with somen noodles, garlic, wakame seaweed, and scallions
-tea my Indian friend brings from his neighbor’s tea estate (with organic whole milk)
Ham, turkey, and cheese rolled up in a tortilla.
Two whole wheat tortillas, cream cheese and lox and a giant glass of iced tea.
And a steroid and a vicodin, for funsies.
A small bowl of cottage cheese and some water. Same as most mornings.
For brunch yesterday I bought a breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, black beans, corn, peppers, and hot sauce.
My usual weekday breakfast is light and involves coffee and one of cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, or English muffin. With a piece of fresh fruit, preferably.
Tea & crumpets most mornings.
I ate a ton Saturday, so Sunday was just tea and later some plain bread.
This morning was standard: tea, then cereal and yoghurt.
This morning was the same as most weekdays: black coffee, whole wheat toast with peanut butter. Gets me my caffeine, my fat, my protein, and my carbohydrates to start the day off right.
Yesterday was the same as most Sundays: I got up early with my 2-year-old daughter and made Special Daddy Style Oatmeal. Rolled oats cooked with raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla, and topped with butter and brown sugar. Plus coffee for me and milk for her, which she dumped into her oatmeal about halfway through eating it. It tastes like rice pudding, only is much easier to make.
