Breaking Bad 3/28/10 OPEN SPOILERS

So, can someone who’s maybe been divorced or separated explain what Walt was thinking when he broke into his house?

I’d also like your thoughts on what Jesse did. At first I thought he was going to take the high (no pun intended) road and give his parents their asking price for the aunt’s house. Am I alone in that? Anyone think if his dad had treated him a little better, he might have done so? How about parents who practice tough love? At what point do you let your kid back in your life? Dad even said Jesse looked “healthy”. Has he caused them so much pain, they’re scared to let him in?

Any ideas on why the cousins brought an ax instead of a more conventional weapon. I don’t remember if there’s some significance to an ax from prior episodes.

And remind me never to get old. Those folks in the nursing home – shudder.

Probably just wanted to be somewhere “normal”, considering he woke up face down in his apartment with his beard full of popcorn.

I never expected him to take the high road. He’s a kid, kids are immature and the high road is usually the more mature path you can take.

This is one of those that we either probably have to research ourselves somehow (like with the shrine of last episode) or it’s one of those things that will be explained later.

Agreed.

In last week’s episode he more or less came to the conclusion he was a bad person; and that’s just the way it is. I think in his mind he gave his dad a chance to set things right, and his dad failed his ‘test.’ I also think he screwed over his parents on the asking price, but they weren’t exactly clear on that; so I suppose we could find out that he decided to pay for the house and Saul the criminal attorney is the one that figured everything out and did it to get his cut. (IOW, Jessie might have said here’s $xxxx.xx for the house, anything you get them to come down on the price goes into your pocket. I think his parents had a lifetime full of trouble with him stealing from them etc that they’ve already written him off. If you remember from a previous season his brother was smoking pot and Jessie took the heat for it. That was pretty much the final straw for his parents. They though he was a bad influence on his sibling and it wasn’t the case. I don’t think they ever let him 100% back in. Once you have to ‘choose’ to trust instead of it being automatic, it’s never the same.

Why the cousins brought an axe? I think because it looks more bad ass to the writers. If someone remembers something from a previous episode I’d like to hear it because I sure don’t remember it.

Speaking of the nursing home… great re-introduction to Tuco’s father! He’s old style gangster.

Here are my questions… Help me tie together the cousins to the chicken (drug lord), to Saul, to Saul’s enforcer dude.

The cousins show up at Walters house presumably to murder him. The enforcer sees this and make a call to a hispanic person who contacts the chicken store drug lord who calls off the hit? Is it possible the cousins were there to end Skyler’s life (and her kids’ lives as well) so that Walter won’t be distracted by her?

So what do you think happened to the cousins at the end? Why did they disappear from the bedroom? Did Gus call them off?

Edited to add that one of them touched the baby’s photo on the refrigerator, which seemed ominous to me.

I was surprised that Jesse and Saul were so ruthless in negotiating with Jesse’s parents. I thought he would give them the full asking price, and I expected him to buy it anonymously.

Last season I remember Saul saying that in order to reach Gus, he had to call a guy who would call another guy who would then call Gus. Looks like Saul’s guy is the enforcer who would call the Hispanic person who would then call Gus. So that means the enforcer would know that Gus would want to hear about his number one chef getting killed. How did Gus know who the killers were? I’m guessing there aren’t a lot of twin hit men, so it would be easy to narrow that description down.

Since Gus stopped Walt from getting killed I guess that means he’s not done with him yet.

I like the new calmer Jessie. I think he stopped feeling sorry for the things he did to his parents, so that made it easier for him to buy his house back.

And poor Skyler. Walt is being a complete jackass by moving in, but something tells me it will end up hurting Skyler more than anyone else. Walt is now valuable to a lot of criminals, and one of them is now monitoring Skyler. If Skyler decides to tell someone it won’t end well for her.

Can someone explain what happened with her accounting for her old boss? Did she decide to help him with his fraud?

Yes, she essentially told him how to cook the books better, that she wasn’t going to do it herself but that if he presented her with new books that did a better job of hiding the fraud she’d sign off on it.

Am I the only one that thinks this might be indirectly how Walt and Sky get back together? First of all you have Sky talking to her boss about how he reconciles what he did (on committing fraud) with his kids, but she was really asking to see if there was any reason enough she could allow Walt back into her life. Her Boss’ answer was perfect! Basically saying he did FOR his family. Not only that if it’s found out by someone that she’s aware of book cooking; that info can be used to get her to go back to Walt.

Other than monitoring her, I’m still wondering what it means when Saul said “We have a wife problem for you take care of.”

I missed the first three minutes (twice!). What was Walt pulled over for?

He neglected to fix the cracked windshield on his car (caused by falling debris from the plane crash.) Then he got all up in dat cop’s grill, yo.

Here’s my thought on the axe. A lot of the people killed by the cartels are decapitated & their heads put in coolers, etc. (and machetes are just sooo OTM!)

i was so sure that because Saul’s guy (who makes me think of the Wolf) looks so much like Walt that the Twins were gonna kill him in the house mistaking him for the drawing of Walt they saw in the season’s first episode.

i was happy i guessed wrong. this season’s going great, for a show where you almost have to pull for a scumbag meth maker

The cousins couldn’t have been in the house to kill Walt or anyone, despite how much it looks like it. They were on their way to find Heisenberg before Walt had told Gus that he was out of the business.

I think they are protectors and were at Walt’s house to make sure Skyler knows the consequences of opening her mouth to the wrong people.

He said “We may have a wife problem.” I believe. Saul’s PI was just there to figure the probability of her talking, seeing how much talking about Walt she does at home.

They were there to kill Walt under the direction of Tuco’s uncle from the nursing home.

I am almost positive Jesse’s cut was a half million dollars, same as Walt almost burned on the grill. As soon as I heard $875k I wondered what the hell they were even doing since Jesse doesn’t have anywhere near that amount of money.

It doesn’t seem overly wrong of Jesse, IMO. His parents were clearly done with him. And it’s not like he bought it for nothing; they still walk away with a nice chunk of change.

I thought Jesse’s aunt left that house to him. Wasn’t she dead when the series started?

Totally creepy how Walt thought he could just come back home because he wants to. And then thought it’d be ok to break into the house. Yuck.

Normally, that would trigger a restraining order on the part of the wife, but given that it’s a TV show, they may work around that.

I thought he was returning to get the money, and then was totally confused to see him taking a shower. Was he REALLY moving back in? Did the conversation he had with Sol & Walter Jr. have something to do with it? I’m thinking, “it’s your house” and “possession is 9/10 of the law,” that sort of stuff. His moving out may be interpreted in the courts as physical abandonment & lean in Skylar’s favor. But I still agree - thinking he could break in and stay is pretty creepy. Definitely restraining order time for Skylar.

Wasn’t Tuco living in Mexico with his grandfather? Or was it just out in the desert of NM? I wondered why grandfather was in a US nursing home.

…oh, and my guess about the twins presence is to perhaps convince Walter to cook for Gus. He has value in that way, maybe even teaching his technique for the rare, blue meth. *Then *maybe they’ll off him.

I think his parents were just letting him live in the house. Sepinwall said on his blog that the real-life owners of the house had sold it, but that the new owners were letting them use it this season.

I’m wondering why Jesse asked about the bathroom. Was it just a “Hey! Remember this?” from the S1 debacle where the acid ate through the bathtub and the floor? That was so gross!

Oh, yeah. I forgot about that…
