Yes, the 55 gallon drum was in the backseat. They’re usually about two foot in diameter and around three feet tall.
I think Todd talked his uncle into keeping Jesse because he wants to get his purity up. He’ll kill Jesse once he has it down pat. Todd tortured Jesse mostly as an after thought, I don’t think Todd thought grilling Jesse for information was really a good enough reason to keep him alive–he just wanted an excuse he knew his uncle would accept. His uncle obviously doesn’t care that much about meth purity, so he knew that argument wouldn’t let them keep Jesse around for awhile.
I do wonder why they’re even going to bother with meth cooking now, $68-70m split up among the relatively small Nazi gang crew and I don’t see why any of them are doing jack again for the rest of their lives.
Walt is assuming Jesse WILL be dead, soon. Todd convinced everyone that Jesse should be taken back and they should find out what he told Hank and Gomez. I have no idea why they need that.
I was under the impression that Walt knows the DEA isn’t aware of what’s going on, if Walt knows the DEA isn’t involved, then what Jesse told them is moot since the only two people he told are dead. It seemed like they needed to fill in a small gap in that conversation. (Yes, I know that Todd was just using it as an excuse to get Jesse back to the lab, I’m just surprised someone didn’t mention that the DEA has no idea what Jesse told them).
I thought Walt had finally turned into Heisenberg completely, but that was a performance- it cuts the cord with his family, and Dewey Finn is right that it makes Skyler look innocent. I don’t know how Marie hasn’t torn Skyler’s face off, though.
That was a good death for Hank. I’m surprised at how sad that makes me. He didn’t exactly do himself proud with the ‘I don’t care if Jesse gets killed’ thing, but he didn’t waver at the end- you knew he wouldn’t (Jack did, too). He even gave his name as ASAC Schrader instead of Hank. Since they had to bleep the “Go fuck yourself” I kind of wish that line about “You bet the cavalry’s coming” had been his last piece of dialogue.
I’m not sure I can keep track of all the things in that episode that were utterly heartbreaking. Hank dying, Walt’s vengeance on Jesse, seeing what Todd (and company?) did to Jesse’s face and then watching them threaten Andrea and Brock and chain Jesse in the lab like Ixion on his wheel, Marie trying to do the right thing and warn Skyler when you knew Hank was already dead, Flynn finally getting the news about what his parents have been doing, that horrible fight, Walt grabbing Holly and running away like a monster, and even that phone call and that last shot of Walt’s face getting smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror… wow.
Two more episodes to go, somehow, but there’s the Ozymandias-ing of Walt’s empire. They really could’ve ended the series there.
I haven’t had a cigarette in almost two years, but tonight I would smoke one a foot long. (I won’t, but, goddamn that was tense.)
Was Jesse’s eye swollen shut or missing? It looked like it was missing in a couple of angles, but could have been lighting.
Walt with the baby and his “I was the only evil one all along” spiel for the cops benefit would have won Cranston an actor if this was a theatrical release.
Plus Marie forcing Skyler to tell Junior the truth, Junior’s reaction, and the look on Marie’s face when she realized Hank is dead. Wow, what an intense episode.
Edit: Oh wait, I guess you mentioned Junior’s reaction
I doubt that, who do you think Walt is gunning for? Walt was willing to give everything for Hank. Now Walt’s pissed, really pissed.
One does have to wonder how much Walt thinks he’s really fucked things up. I mean he could have just cooked for Gus for a bit, taken the car wash and run like hell. But he had to have his empire, and now it’s cost him Hank’s life, his son’s respect, and when he does die it will be pretty much alone.
I don’t think Marie has quite come to grips with it yet. You have to remember, Marie has known about Hank for like 3 days now, maybe a week. Skyler has known for probably 6 months. Walt Jr…an hour. And no one has any idea at all that Skyler is involved in it at all beyond ‘supporting her husband’ or being an accomplice by association or lying by omission.
Just to be clear, Hank didn’t not care if Jesse got killed. It was that he didn’t care if Walt killed Jesse on tape. Yeah, he doesn’t have to much respect for another random tweaker, but he doesn’t want him to die, what he did want when he said that was something, anything that would give him a reason to bring Walt in. At that point he had zilch. He was sending Jesse in hoping that Walt would start talking and confess to poisoning Brock. When Gomez mentioned that Walt might kill him he said that he’d be okay with that as long as he got it on tape.
I honestly don’t think Walt is going after the Nazis. I think they took the money and vanished. And would getting the money back be of any benefit to him or his family now? But who knows? I’m probably way off
That would have been a far too horribly bleak ending for me. I don’t want Walt to trash all the lives around him, then get away clean to die in peace - even if it is alone. If that didn’t disappoint me, I think the image of Jessie slaving away for eternity in the service of Todd would be just about the worst existence assigned to a character in a long time.
I don’t think this will end like say, Wayne’s World with a Scooby-doo version and everything, but I at least want Jesse’s suffering to end.
Seems like Walt and Jesse always had some of that body dissolving acid handy. Was it used in the cooking process? Because if it was, maybe Jesse can burn through his leash when Todd’s not looking.
I did not stretch my face enough to prepare for that episode. Wow. Just wow. It’s all revenge from here on out. That and setting up his family to continue without him.
I’m guessing the vacuum filter guy is going to relocate Walt to New Hampshire, where he will prepare for the final confrontation before returning to Albuquerque. I want to think he’ll rescue Jesse, but after tonight, I think he slammed that door closed.
Episodes like this one show why this is currently the best show on TV!
That was just so damn intense!
Oh, and no one has mentioned it yet, but Walt’s confession to Jesse that he watched Jane die and could have saved her! I knew that had to come out at some point!
And for the first time this season they didn’t end on a cliffhanger - that could have been a great series ender right there!
How this show has never won an Emmy for best drama, I’ll never know.
Ah, right. Now we’re getting close to a dozen. What an amazing episode that was.
We don’t know what Skyler said in front of Marie, but Marie does know that Skyler was aware of what was happening before the cousins tried to kill Hank. So … I think that’d be enough to claw Skyler’s face off. I guess we’ll see how she reacts in the next episode.
Hank sent him into a situation where he might get killed (and didn’t do anything to protect him). It’s pretty much the same.
On tape, he sent him into that situation with video cameras rolling. If Walt killed him, he could put him in jail based on that and be a happy man. If Jesse got hit by a car an hour before this went down Hank wouldn’t have said ‘oh well, one less tweaker to worry about’
