I genuinely believe it will galvanize the female vote more than ever. For many, many women, this is visceral stuff. They identify readily with Dr. Blasey Ford’s story. And they are pissed.
They are already prepared to crawl over broken glass to vote in this mid-term. Now, I think they will drag every female friend and relative they know to the polls with them.
Every single woman I know across the country is counting the days to November 6th.
Yep. The GOP has made a serious mistake here, whether they put him on the Court or not. The only difference is the level of fury felt by women will increase exponentially if Kavanaugh is voted onto the Court.
This is a circus? Having discussions about whether a supreme court judge is a gang rapist who can legally be prosecuted if found guilty due to no statute of limitations?
Ever since Trump won, I have very little faith in the American people. So I really don’t know what’ll happen in 2018. I’m hoping some women who lean left who’d normally stay home will vote, and maybe some right leaning women who’d normally vote will stay home. But again, After Trump won 63 million votes its hard to have a lot of faith.
But either way, calling it a circus is demeaning. This never happened with Alito, Gorsuch, Roberts, etc. There is a reason Mitt Romney had 0 sex accusations but Trump had dozens
Whether a supreme court judge is a remorseless predator, felon and pathological liar is a very important thing to consider. Whether he can be prosecuted and spend the rest of his life in prison is a very important thing to consider. You demean the hell out of it by calling it a circus. This last few years made me realize how much further feminism and western society has to go. We aren’t nearly as evolved and developed as I thought we were.
Also who are these prominent never Trumpers who say they will vote Trump in 2020 because they are angry that the democrats wanted hearings on gang rape?
Did you hear anything today that would make Democrats change their mind and vote in favor of Kavanaugh’s confirmation? I didn’t. Did you hear anything today that would make Republicans change their vote and not confirm Kavanaugh? I didn’t. It was simply another case of SSDD politics.
Did the voters hear anything that would make them change their minds on this issue? Probably not. Either they already believe that the Democrats are simply using this event to further delay everything the Republicans attempt, just like they said they would, or they believe Republicans lie about everything. Nothing has changed. The only new information presented was that the Democrats didn’t bother to tell Ford that the committee was willing to travel to California to meet with her. She didn’t have to fly to DC.
The Democrats so-called “very credible victim” has had her own chosen witnesses to her assault deny that such a thing ever took place. I don’t believe that old information would change anyone’s mind. She also claims that her psychiatrist misremembers what Ford said during therapy. (Psychiatrist only know what their patients tell them, and psychiatrists take notes. Which of the two is most likely to misremember what was said?) Will that claim change any voters mind? Not at this point in time.
The Democrats made the huge mistake of telling each other that Hillary couldn’t lose. Their 2nd mistake was believing what they were telling each other. This is deja vu all over again.
Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote is tomorrow. I predict that Kavanaugh will be confirmed along party lines. I also predict that his confirmation won’t change the minds of any voters. Everyone’s mind seems to be already made up, and set in stone.
In 2016 with a far more credible and sourced accusations against Trump, with a female candidate on the other side; a majority of white women voted for Trump.
