Bricker Challenge 2005, Edition # 4

Whoops.

No answer at all from Rachm Qoch to #10. My mistake. That makes the correct tally 45.

And we had an earlier 45. But I need to review that to make sure I didn;t make the same error there. Stand by. I’ll be back after morning meetings.

On review, I mis-scored the earlier 45 as well, for similar reasons.

The highest total correct answers posted were 45, by Rachm Qoch. If anyone else wants to take a second look, I’d welcome a second pair of eyes, considering how the first pair flubbed it once already.

#10: the seven castaways from Gilligan’s island were rescued by copter #1445 in “Rescue from Gilligan’s Island,” the 1978 TV movie that finally brings them back to civilization. Sort of.

The question is which was the sixth of mine did you count as incorrect besides the 4 you listed previously and number 10, because I answered one of the questions correctly that he answered wrong on his final entry, which would make it a wash and we would be tied again.

OK, the ones I know I got wrong were 1, 10, 16, 17, and 42. The ones Rachm got wrong were 1, 10, 14, 16, and 17.

I’m going to guess and say that #18 is the one you’re counting for him and against me (as I only listed the US-observed Holy Days and not the Universal Holy Days). If I am correct, then his answer is also incorrect because he adds “In addition to Sundays” at the beginning, which makes his answer wrong, as Holy Days are, by definition, those days OTHER than regular Sundays in which one is obligated to attend mass, which then brings us back down to the same number wrong.

No, Sundays are Days of Obligation as well. I wouldn’t call that answer wrong.

No, but the question asked for the Holy Days of Obligation, not Days of Obligation. Regular Sundays are not Holy Days of Obligations.

1983 Code of Canon Law lists Sunday as the “Primordial Holy Day of Obligation”.

So, Bricker, 45 seems to be a new record for a win. Do I get a bonus prize?

OK, with the two questions you answered correctly, plus the 43 I answered, I will have to concede. I understand it’s the rules of the game, but pardon me if I don’t congratulate you…

I guess this is a moot point, but 13 hasn’t been answered correctly. Marianne Dashwood does not marry Robert. She marries Colonel Brandon, Elinor marries Edward, and Lucy Steele (the correct answer) marries his brother Robert.

ahem

I got it right :stuck_out_tongue:

I was just looking for “Sense and Sensibility” there, but you’re right.

I make a list of the answers I’m expecting ahead of time. I haven’t really confronted the situtaion in which someone adds more detail than I wanted and the additional detail is wrong.

In this case, thankfully, it’s moot. I’ll add a definite rule for this next time.
