I generally like a lot of different kinds of movies. My wife doesn’t like action or violent movies. So, I see those with my son or by myself. So when my wife and I see movies together they are normally comedies, dramas, or chick-flicks, and she normally picks what we are going to see. Last night she picked Bridesmaids. I expected it to be a typical chick-flick comedy/light drama. Boy was I surprised. This one is true comedy up there with The Hangover, Superbad, Knocked-Up. It was produced by Judd Apatow and directed by Paul Feig.
I thought it was hilarious. Lot’s of good laughs. Basic premise is that Kristin Wiig’s character is asked by her best friend, played by Maya Rudolph (both from SNL) to be her maid of honor. Several typical scenes playout as the wedding planning is done but with a lot of laughs. One of the bridesmaids, played by Melissa McCarthy (Sookie from the Gilmore Girls) steals the show.
The scene in the exclusive bridal shop after they ate at the Brazilian restaurant and all got food poisoning was a riot.
