Brit Dope Winter 2003

Aaaww… how sweet.

And, yes I’m not supposed to flirt during Ramadhan. :stuck_out_tongue:
Shade, yes the science threads, generally in GQ.

Shade, yes the science threads, generally in GQ.

Bad girl!

qts: not this again

Angua: Hmm… is it polite of us to not flirt with you during this period? Either because that would be wrong, or because it tempts you to flirt back? Though I realise answering this question itself might be going too far. I think I’ll play safe, and go by what seems to be the spirit of the rules, and stick to talking about astronomy and cambridge, though that’ll be hard (uh, difficult. whoops  )

Or does online flirting just not count? It’s not as if it’s really sexual imho.

So, Angua – by any chance do you play the xylophone?

Pretty funny. But e=MC Hawking will always be the first rapping-astroscientist in my heart

Bwahaha!

Online firlting isn’t flirting per say, I don’t think, I mean, its only electrons.

No, I don’t play the xylophone, I play the recorder (pretty damned well actually - my school consort was semi-professional :D)

Oh, and Gyrate, darn you! Darn you to heck and back! I now have the “Patrick Moore plays the xylophone” tune snippet going round in my head!

Shade, there will be no more spankings in this thread. I mean, I knew Trinitiarians were wierd, but I didn’t realise that they were into that kind fo stuff.

So’s kissing: the force between lips being pressed together is just colliding electron shells :stuck_out_tongue: But online stuff is less meaningful, yes.

Just thought I’d check - it might be why your flirting dried up…

Nah, I think it’s because someone called her bubbeleh. That’s the evil secret of Jewish mothers; you just think it’s a term of endearment, but it is also an anti-sexual one. It can fry any flirtatious electrons instantaneously. And I should know; I’ve got Jewish mothers up the wazzoo. Anyone need a spare?

(Although now that I think about it, that may be the first time I’ve ever seen a nice Muslim girl get referred to as bubbeleh.).

Well, to be fair, I’m not all that bothered; you can all insult me, and I’ll take it in the spirit its intended.

I don’t need Jewish mothers, I have an Indian one. Nuff said. (Not really, my mum’s wonderful!)

Hmmm… that’s the first time I’ve been referred to as a “nice Muslim girl”.

It’s certainly the first time I’ve been called a “Jewish mother”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bwahahahaha!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, for clarity’s sake, there is no requirement to be Jewish, or indeed even female, to be a Jewish mother. It’s more a state of mind than something predetermined by culture, religion, and/or genetics. And definitely the few Indian moms I’ve met and/or heard stories about probably get closer thananyone except maybe an Italian mom. (Right, jeevmon?)

have you heard the stories about scottish mothers at weddings? it involves kilts, underwear and hands…

From what I’ve heard about Jewish mothers, they are just Irish mothers with swankier clothes.

Well, if Jewish mothers are anything like Indian ones, then there’s not a whole load of difference.

Hmm… So, this thread started off as BritDope Winter 2003 planning. Its been hijacked and mutated, and is now a discussion about Jewish mothers. Hmm… we are a crazy bunch.

Oh, honey, Caius have been wanting to close down Gardies for years

Yeah, it doesn’t surprise me at all. Apparantly though, now they’ve actually set a date where they’re terminating the lease and everything.

whats a Caius, Gonville and Gardies?

Gonville and Caius is a Cambridge college - the one Tansu was at, IIRC. Gardies is a Greek kebab place in Cambridge, housed in premises rented from Gonville and Caius College. Gardies does some of the best kebabs ever. However, Gonville and Caius have decided that Gardies doesn’t fit with the “upscale image” they’re trying to give Rose Crescent (the street where Gardies is situated), despite the fact that there is still a MacDonalds on that streeet.

Does that clear things up?
