Brit Dope Winter 2003

Tolkien never did say what kind of mushrooms hobbits liked so much.

Solving a general shrodinger eq?? My memory must be faulty, I thought that was impossible!

<Big Brother Voice>

Well, he didn’t help me when I was hunting for the possessive equivalent of mine pies to use in the third person.

Or

I can’t spell

You decide.

</Big Brother Voice>

Just so the suspence wont kill you…

Twisty will be wearing a T-shirt with his name on it (bless him), and I shall be wearing my special drinking bra.

I imagine there may well be some other cloths involved too, but I wouldn’t want to give the whole game away.

Actually about 500 years ago you’d have been spot on with using “hine” as the third person possessive.

Thus ends todays pointless history lesson…

sorry submitted too soon.

add the line:

“So you weren’t far off” in there somewhere.

All right, I’ll behave, I wouldn’t want to ruin my chances of a special birthday cookie. But I’ll try and whisk you off to the Big Apple with me, my dear.

Until then, I plan to have a kick-ass time with this rowdy lot. Two days to go! :D:D:D

well, i’ll see thee all there. i’m outta here with no net access til monday as i go for a job interview tomorrow.

look for the wedding dress…

You don’t have to pretend that you would have noticed, but contrary to previous indications I am unable to attend .

Next time guys – have a good one y’all.

and why not???

you better have a damn good excuse young…ah…person!

Awww, c’mon Washy, the more the merrier!

Dunno if I can go now. It will be last minute. Has anyone got a rough idea about where they’ll be between 1pm and about 6pm?

**For any newcomers or passing tourists, our full plans are detailed in a post on page 18. My name, big red headings, you can’t miss it. **

We are booked in at the Mongolian BBQ place. Early sitting, from 6pm onwards. Table for 12, because only 10 people expressed an interest in going (me, Angua, Fran, Alex, Eva, Confessor, SciFi, Gyrate, qts, Bib, optional Spacedog) and I’ve allowed for 2 more late joiners.

A random thought strikes me (ow!): ianzin, if you don’t mind hauling it around would you bring a browsing copy of your magnum opus on cold reading on Saturday? I know I for one would like a flip-through.

I received mine in the post today, Gyrate. Looks good - that’s my reading on the tube for the next few days/weeks sorted out!

The thing is, Bibbly, I would love to join the party, if only to check on the rumours that you are all astoundingly beautiful, and ply strangers with beer. But alas, circumstances beyond my control… blah-blah.

Next time.

So Ian, we should meet you at the Mongolian place at six? I’m happy with that.

(Clears throat to interrupt thread.)

Looks as if I’m free on Saturday night. Will try to make it to The Silver Cross session.

Gyrate Sorry, but no. I don’t really want to haul a copy around with me that isn’t paid for - if it gets damaged in any way (quite likely at a Dopefest) then I can’t sell it. Besides, it’s not really much of a ‘browse’ or ‘have a flip through’ sort of book, and it’s not fair to other people who actually order it before they get a chance to see the contents.

Fran yep, that will be fine. We’ll arrive sometime between 6 and 6.30 (and we have to be out by 8.30). Table is booked under my real name, obviously.

You’re going to be playing a wide selection of instruments and signing carols in the middle of Charing Cross station? People will think you’re buskers! Hmm, would be good for beer money. Perhaps I should bring my child with me, to hold a hat out in a soulful manner.

Otherwise I won’t be there for the afternoon session, as I don’t have babysitting till the evening. I should be at the dinner from 6 though, with my brother in tow (couldn’t find babysitting for him either, so I have to bring him along ;))

I’ll prolly be around at 12:30, but most likely I’ll be lurking…
I’m sick of siteseeing.
