He is a board member of FAC. FAC is looking for a few good men and/or women. So this morning he asked me: “Do you think some of your Strange Dope friends who live in Brooklyn would be interested?”
He’s been calling you guys my “Strange Dope friends” ever since he met a few of you. My daughter thinks I hang out in an underground lab, mixing chemicals or something. He thinks Dopers are pretty interesting, and intelligent. He wonders how I got involved.
Back to the point. This is a good organization. Find out more about them here http://www.fifthave.org .
I live in Park Slope. Could you give me some specifics? What time? What would I be expected to do? what goes on there? Anything else you may want to tell. I’m not sure I’ll be around this weekend but let me know regardless.
My husband is actually looking for people with some organizational skills. Board members who will steer FAC into the new millenium. Board members are not paid.
Anyone who is interested can e-mail me at the address in my profile. I will have hubby flesh out exactly what he is looking for.
Well, I’ll be at the Fair this Sunday, and I’d love to meet your husband. Where will you guys be parked? At the banner-bedecked FAC booth, or up in your apartment window, dropping water balloons on the crowd?
{Homer Simpson Voice} Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…Brooklyn fair food…stewed goat, steamed sweet potatoes, jerk chicken, peas and rice, Peruvian ceviche, spooky ground meat deepfried into little puffs of dough…
The FAC table will be right in front of my building. If anyone wants to actually see Mr. Biggirl (no gawking, please) he will be manning the table from 11 till 2. Being a smart guy, he took the early shift. The fair doesn’t start swinging until after noon.
And to complete this picture of civic mindedness, my whole family will be participating in You Gotta Have Park this Saturday. (Hubby is also a member of the Prospect Park Alliance). Go to your local park and join in in keeping it beautiful.
Hey Biggirl - I’m in! I’ll try to make it to the festival this Sunday, too. I’ll look for you and your hubby and talk to you more about it, otherwise, give me a call.
