At the moment, I’m very tired and avoiding Manhattan, so I’ll propose a mellow, bring-your-own-lunch picnic in Prospect Park. Maybe this Sunday at 1 p.m.? Any takers?
Ohhhhh! A pick-i-nick, I love a pick-i-nick. And in the park, too.
I’d love to go and see the NYC dopers, and Sunday afternoon sounds great.
I can’t wait for details of where to meet, etc.
Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn. I want to, guys, more than you know. But this weekend is my sister’s bridal shower, so I’ll be upstate. Please, everyone give a round of hugs for me?
I can’t do Sundays. Sorry. Sounded good.
IF I can get from New Jersey to NYC, I would love to.
We need details. Prospect Park is really big. A picnic. Sounds beautiful.
I would love to. It was really great to see you yesterday. Hang in there, try to really rest while ‘resting’ at home.
Sounds great. I would LOVE to see you guys.
I would love to, but I live in northern (way, way northern) Manhattan… I don’t want to go too far from home this week. I’ll be thinking of you all though!
Sounds good to me! Pick a place in the park and let me know.
My cousin works for the Park Department and was in Prospect Park on Tuesday. She had to walk from there across the 59th St Bridge and from there got a bus to take her to her home on w 66th.
So I don’t want any Manhattan dopers saying they cant’ get to Brooklyn!
If I can get there from Jersey, I’ll be there.
Annie Xmas–I recall you saying somewhere that you don’t have a car? Is that so? Email me, and if I can get there, you’re welcome to a ride.
I’m in! I need an address/intersection for the park. I’m not too sure where it is. Also, I’m in the New Brunswick area, so if anyone wants to carpool or just ride the train together, let me know.
Sunday at 1. I’ll be there.
I’d love to, but I’m getting out of the city this weekend and heading out to Long Island for my friend’s bachelor party. I don’t know whether I’ll be able to celebrate appropriately, but it’s important that I’m there.
My best to all.
I’ll be there,
Wonko, I’ll drive if you want (more room in the car for others)
What a great idea! I’m in! I’ll bake desserts for everyone!
(Can you tell I’m a little excited about the idea of seeing you guys?)
Good morning, everyone. I believe it is still morning, and it certainly is good… I just spoke with a few people from work and found out that nearly everyone on my floor of 2WTC is accounted for and alive. Believe me, I was thrilled beyond belief to hear that!
Regarding a place to meet on Sunday… since the park is so big, I was thinking we could meet at an entrance near the subway and then walk into the park together. Would a lot of people take the F in? If so, we can meet at the 15th St./Prospect Park stop. Or maybe it would be easier to meet at Grand Army Plaza near the 2/3? Do any of the other Brooklynites have good ideas about this? Anyone know the park really well so we can have a meeting place inside for late-comers?
I’m looking forward to seeing/meeting you all!
Well, I’m not a NY Doper, nor am I going to be in New York anytime soon. But I just wanted to say how glad I am to see you back, vix. And glad that just about everyone in your office is accounted for.
The 2/3 is not running as of right now, although Grand Army Plaza is big and easily found. Hmmmmmm.
The Long Meadow would be a good place to have the picnic. It’s roomy (really roomy), but a large group can be seen easily with a little walking. Whadda think, Slopers?
Well, if I can get there (and I have room in my car for others) I can bring my husband’s patented beacon–it’s been tremendously useful when groups of people are looking for each other in a big park or a huge festival (think the National Mall on July 4)
So, look for a big pink flamingo on a pole.
