And that wasn’t the first time in the money for Gut.
Looking at the schedule, it appears that I will likely miss 3 or 4 of the next 5 games. So nobody need worry about taking the basement from me.

And of course, O was keeping the basement couch all warm, watching his team lose. If they win when you don’t watch, maybe you should come back and play the game.

No basketball conflict the next two weeks, so I should be there to defend my basement.
I’m in the Omaha Freeroll right now… have been for the past, I dunno how many hours.
I’m in 5th.

'Twas only a flesh wound!
I let my underlings do all the dirty work for me, then I just mop up. All part of my plan to pull myself out of the 20s. I’m shooting for the 50s tonite, so you better watch out.

The middle is getting rather clogged…
Sorry for missing out on the game last night…baseball practice went long into the night!
Wish me luck tomorrow…going on a bus junket to Laughlin…hoping to get into the Tropicana Express Hold’em tournament…about 16-20 tables at $55 per head.
Sorry, keep meaning to play, but things keep coming up. The latest is the incredible scald on my arm I got on Tuesday and though I meant to stay up and play last night, the meds knocked me out.
My net connection was down for a few days, sorry I missed you all last Thursday. Maybe I needed the break, though; the cards had been driving me nuts lately.
I tried the 8:30 freeroll this evening. I was all-in with aces, lost when Q-10 made a straight on the river. So I moseyed over to Missy’s table to see how she was doing. I got there just in time to see her go all-in with aces, and get knocked out by two-pair on the river. Not only am I still cursed, now I’m taking friends down with me.
Sorry, Missy.
Apparently Root, you took me down with you… j/k.
My bus trip to Laughlin was fun, but the poker tournament I was in was pretty fun except for 2 hands:
Started with 10k in chips, I built it up to 15k in about half an hour, being conservative, but betting aggressively with about 6 hands with a combination of AJ, AQ and AK. No pocket pairs at all. Nobody called me through the hands to see what I had, so I had this persona that I was a tight and aggressive player, and led some to believe that maybe I might be bluffing on a couple of them. That in turn made me another 5k in chips when some schlep didn’t believe that I was holding an Ace and betting hard with the board being A-A-K-8-7 rainbow and he was clutching pocket Kings.
But I was not invincible. I was given AKc and immediately raised. Older guy to my left called. Everyone else folded. Flop came K-7-5 rainbow. I betted the pot, he called…pot was at about 4k. Another piece of crap came up, a deuce. Bet 4k, he called again. River was a Queen. I bet 6k, he called with his remaining chips about another 4k. That old guy turned up pocket Queens! I just shook my head.
So, I was hobbled a little bit…down to about 7k in chips and then the next hand before the break, I was dealt pocket Kings. Raised immediately and had one call, from the table chip leader. After some more betting and calling the board had 3 low diamonds and a Jc and Ts. I bet 1500 and he reraised me 1500 which would have me pushed all in. I folded on the suspicion that he a flush which was exactly what he had when he turned up AQd. “Good fold” he quipped. The cockroach is still alive!
The break came about 5 minutes later. Turned to old guy #1 and said, “You knew I had a King, what made you call my pot bets after the flop and turn?” Old guy said, “I felt lucky.” Shook my head again. Cooled down with a cup of coffee and realized that I had to make a move with only 1300 in chips.
Which I did. Doubled up with pocket Kings versus an AQo that didn’t find it’s other Ace on the board. Then was dealt pocket Jacks about 10 minutes later and stole the blinds on that one. Same thing with pocket Queens.
I was up to 3800 in chips, and I was the big blind (200-400) and was dealt ATs. Raised it another 400 and had 1 call. Board came up 7-T-4 rainbow. Bet the pot for another 1000 and he called. The turn was an 8. I pushed all-in for the last 2000, and he called. I turn up my AT and he turns up K9 stating “I probably shouldn’t have called this, but I got 11 outs.” Indeed. Up comes a Jack on the river. Bye-Bye.
Out of 60 players, I figured I was out somewhere in the 40-50ish range. My friend who was also in the tournament just missed the money in 7th. But I still had a blast playing live.
Live table, high pocket pair losing to suited cards, someone hits a straight on the river; that sure looks like my handiwork.
